the handbag, masculinity & perfomativity @ronning were kind enough to gift me their everyday bag and it got me thinking of the wider trend of menswear brands and men adopting the handbag in their collections, but what does this say about masculinity today compared to over the past 50 years? I think this is a positive shift away from a narrow view of masculinity defined by power suits and frat boys wearing skinny chinos to a more diverse perspective where men feel comfortable experimenting with things traditionally seen a more feminine in fashion: one of the core ways we outwardly express ourselves to the world! Some of you may just say this rise is adjacent to the rise of the ‘performative male’ and although that may be the case for some I don’t think that is the case for most And as promised in the video here are some of my other favourite bag recommendations @pearledivory - Buckle Bag @ordinarypractice - Drift Bag @lemaire - Weekend Belt Bag @sabatier1947 - all their bags but specifically the 617 @nktrmnv - Boris Bag

Steven Soderbergh‘s Oceans 11 remake may be the swaggiest movie in film history, a big part of that being due to Jeffery Kurland’s costume design which gave us the iconic looks that no movie has really been able to top till today This video highlights the challenge of dressing the 11 heist members. Making them all look distinct from each other and capturing their personalities, using this case study to help change the way we look at our own wardrobes and purchases.
