It’s bitter sweet that the @freerideworldtour comp season has come to an end. Competing is a lot of fun but I am excited to get some spring riding in.
It’s ironic that athletes don’t actually get to ride that much while on tour. Between traveling non-stop, last second schedule changes, dealing with injuries, and trying to navigate tough snow conditions, it’s hard to find time to ride for yourself. Last year for me had it all, but I was still able to find some good days in-between 😉

If you’ve been around snowboarding long enough, you already know the name.
Antony “Gumby” Gumbley isn’t just a rider he’s part of the foundation.
Gumby’s been snowboarding since 1990, back when the sport was raw, lawless, and built by riders who didn’t ask for permission. Born in Australia, raised between surf, wind, and boards, he brought that same energy to snow the moment he discovered it. By 1996, he was riding professionally, chasing winters across hemispheres and living on snow year-round.
His career isn’t defined by podiums it’s defined by impact.
From legendary moments like the infamous 1995 British Champs in Val d’Isère, to appearing in magazines during snowboarding’s formative years, Gumby became known for charging hard, building big, and doing things his own way. No fear. No filter. All commitment.
Beyond riding, he helped build the culture: • Founder of the Xbox Big Day Out (1997–2007), one of Europe’s most iconic snowboard events
• Five years managing and shaping the Val d’Isère snowpark
• Lifelong advocate for community, creativity, and snowboarding’s soul
