He skipped math and ended up becoming part of history 😅

During Shohei Ohtani’s 50/50 game in September 2024, a kid showed up with a sign that read: “I skipped math to watch history!”

Then Ohtani delivered one of the most iconic performances the game has ever seen, and during the game, cameras caught the kid and the sign in the background of the moment.

The image was later turned into an official baseball card, permanently tying that kid to one of the most historic nights in MLB history.

In late 2007, Red Sox fan and construction worker Gino Castignoli secretly buried a David Ortiz # 34 jersey in the concrete of the under-construction Yankee Stadium, hoping to curse the team. By April 2008, word of the prank had leaked to the media, and on April 13, 2008, Yankees officials jackhammered through two feet of concrete to retrieve the jersey.

Rather than destroy it, they donated the jersey to Boston’s Jimmy Fund - a Red Sox–affiliated charity supporting cancer care and research - which auctioned it on eBay. On April 24, 2008, the tattered Ortiz jersey sold for $175,100, with all proceeds going to pediatric cancer research.

After the Padres intentionally hit Shohei Ohtani with a 99 mph pitch, he went to the Padres side to calm everyone down. This is something you don’t see. Class act 💯

During recent renovations at Progressive Field, construction workers in the visiting team locker room uncovered a hidden cinder-block wall covered in Hall of Fame signatures.

Thome, Ripken, Bonds, Griffey, Clemens, and more - autographs dating back to the 1990s and early 2000s.

A perfectly preserved, decades-old time capsule of baseball history.

10-year-old Zachary thought he was on his way to the dentist. Instead, his parents pulled into Dodger Stadium for Game 1 of the World Series.

By the bottom of the 10th, the Dodgers were trailing 3-2 and down to their final out. Freddie Freeman stepped to the plate with the bases loaded. The crack of the bat sent the crowd into a frenzy, and the ball soared toward right field.

It was coming directly for Zachary. It ricocheted off the seat in front of him, rolled on the ground, and in the scramble he knocked it to his dad, who picked it up and handed it back to him. Tears streamed down his face as fans crowded around, asking for photos and congratulating him. Even Yankees fans celebrated the moment with him.

That night, he went home with the ball that ended Game 1 of the World Series.

Months later, that same baseball sold at auction for $1.56 million.

Not bad for skipping the dentist.

As the Cubs wrapped up their 2025 regular season, Ian Happ tossed a baseball into the left-field bleachers with $200 rubber-banded on. His message read: “To: the best fans in baseball, thanks for another great year!”

One fan shared it on Instagram, calling it the perfect way to close out the season. The Cubs are heading to the playoffs, but Happ still made sure to pause and show love to the Wrigley faithful.

“I want you to someday sell this in the future and put your kids through college with it.”

That’s what Mickey Mantle told his friend and business partner Joseph Timmerman in 1991 after writing his signature 99 times on a single sheet of cardstock. Halfway through, Mantle even scribbled a note: “These pens suck.”

In October 2024, Timmerman sold the sheet at Lelands, and Mantle’s gift fetched $247,144 - nearly $2,500 per autograph - making it one of the most unique and valuable pieces of Mantle memorabilia ever.

By the time it sold, Timmerman’s kids were long past college, but Mantle’s gesture still proved prophetic - the sheet had become a legacy piece worth a fortune.
