Joe Flacco tells FOS he’s not a fan of the NFL potentially adding an 18th regular-season game. Speculation around an extra game has grown since the league’s annual meeting in late March, driven largely by the NFL’s expanding international slate. The trade-off: cutting preseason down to two games.

Diana Taurasi says this is the shift women’s basketball has been waiting for.

If the best players in the world get paid for performance in the NBA, why should it be any different in women’s basketball?
The next CBA matters.

Miami (Ohio) AD David Sayler is sticking up for his 30-0 RedHawks, whose March Madness resume has been criticized by some in the basketball world, including Bruce Pearl.

"March Madness, teams that have a story," Sayler said to FOS. "Cinderella. These are things that we should be celebrating about the sport, and instead we've got people online talking about how it's bad for the sport and they'd rather see a 12th-place Big Ten team or an 11th-place SEC team."

The Miami AD's frustration was spurred when Pearl, the former Auburn coach, admitted his bias towards the program—which is now coached by his son—after saying Miami would be a bottom-tier team in other conferences like the Big Ten and Big East.

"Where it really hit me was when I heard about the Big East comments he made and us finishing last," Sayler said. "To me, that's disrespectful to our student-athletes. They're on the verge of something historic."

The leader of the RedHawks emphasized: "To me, it's taking a sledgehammer to what makes college basketball so special."
