It’s been one of the most favourite summers of my coxing career and now we get to race today in the women’s eight!

If you had asked me this past winter if I thought I would be steering a boat on the Bosbaan (and many did!), you would have received a resounding “no”.

But this group of women were up to something special, and after a few new additions to the group before the selection period, I was hooked. I competed for a seat in the women’s eight, loved every moment of the process and I haven’t looked back. I love being a part of this team and I can’t wait to show the world what we are capable of!

Racing kicks off today in heat 1 at 3:33pm local time in lane 3. 🚀🐎

Listen up Canada, the Canadian women’s eight is back racing for a medal today at 1:52pm local time. Having missed out on the A Final last year, I’m feeling grateful to have the opportunity to be back in the fight.

Thank you to my ladies for trusting me yesterday when weather dictated a very last minute change in the racing format. Now, one more chance to guide this crew to something special.

Canada, let’s hear those cheers in the third 500m! Whether you are here in person, or yelling at a computer screen in the early morning, it all helps!

Sometimes you are the nail and sometimes you are the hammer when it comes to international rowing racing. This year, we were the roofing nail and my hope is we can become the finishing hammer next year.

August 30th is a happy day for me (happy anniversary Izak!) and this year is no different; although for different reasons (I take every A Final as a gift and opportunity). I went into this summer fully committed and I wanted to see what we could accomplish in the women’s eight with a young and relatively inexperienced group. I am so freaking proud of what we brought to the A final and of course I want more. Bring it 2027!

Ni Hao LET THE PONIES RIDE!

🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🤠

I’m checking my cinch, because tomorrow the Canadian women’s eight is taking me for a rip down the track at the World Rowing Championships! Catch us in Lane 1 at 10:05am local time. Get those cowbells out and cheer as loud as you can— we can hear you!!!

I’m grateful for those who have supported me to have this opportunity to race at my 8th senior world championships. I didn’t think I would be here this time last year, but a few people helped me re-write the narrative in my head about what my life “should” look like. Thank you Izak, for going along with my chaotic life choices… I promise we will take a honeymoon one day.

Thank you to those friends and family who didn’t say I was crazy to my face, and to my federation who made a pathway for a return.

Finally, thank you to Jane Roos and CAN Fund. The work you do on behalf of athletes goes so much further than just filling the funding gap. You give me confidence to write my own story!

I am incredibly proud and grateful to share that I have been selected as a CAN Fund recipient this year. For me, the direct support is more than just financial, it’s a reminder that I have people who support and believe in me as I forge a pathway that is atypical.

CAN Fund has been my most consistent sponsor through my career and they show up for me in the quiet moments of the Olympic cycle when I need it most. CAN Fund receives no government funding, and exists entirely because Canadians show up for us athletes and say “I believe in you”. To every CAN Fund donor— thank you for believing in me and my journey.

I am running for the World Rowing Athlete Council and voting is open 27-29 August for all accredited athletes at this year’s World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam.

As I train towards my fifth consecutive Games, I decided to put my name in the hat because I truly love the sport of rowing and I want to see athletes stay at the centre of decision making at the elite level.

While I have won medals at both the Paralympic and Olympic Games, I think my strongest asset to the athlete council would come from my training as a Coxswain— I love finding ways to amplify all of the people in my boat as I believe each person’s viewpoint and voice is important!

From my time on the World Anti-Doping Agency and Rowing Canada Aviron Athlete Councils I have learned how much administrators value the athlete voice, and I hope to use this experience to support rowers of the world!

Please consider voting for me 27-29 August in the athlete park (this is where the dining hall is)!
