Ten years ago, she pitched on our stage. Now she’s coming back as a Champion.

That’s right, we’re so excited to announce that @tarabosch will be joining us as a Champion at The Odlum Brown Forum Pitch Finale!

This is truly a full-circle moment. Ten years ago, Tara took the stage as a Finalist and was named the inaugural winner of The Odlum Brown Forum Pitch. She then went on to scale her company into the fastest-growing CPG brand ever created by a solo woman entrepreneur.

What began as a basement kitchen experiment inspired by a conversation with her grandmother became @smartsweets, the brand that redefined candy for a new generation. After dropping out of college and making deliveries from the back of her car, Tara grew SmartSweets into the #1 low-sugar candy brand in North America.

To date, the company has generated over $1 billion in sales and helped consumers kick more than 5.6 billion grams of sugar. And just four years after launch, SmartSweets was acquired for a staggering $360 million by TPG Growth.

We’re so excited to have both Tara and Michele joining us as Champions on April 24. Help us celebrate in the comments below!

We can’t stop thinking about the words of wisdom Michele Romanow shared with us.

“Every incredible and successful business almost didn’t make it. Not once, not twice, but 100 times.”

What enabled them to push through all those moments when something went wrong?

A community that gave them someone to talk to, encourage them, and remind them that everything they’re building toward is worth it.

Thank you, Michele, for joining us as a champion of women entrepreneurs alongside Tara Bosch at The Odlum Brown Forum Pitch Finale’s 10th anniversary celebration.

Stay tuned for more insights and inspiration from these amazing leaders.

“Take the risk… there’s nobody that has made it without falling flat on their face.”

That’s the advice @micheleromanow would go back in time to share with her younger self.

Taking the steps to transform an idea into a business can feel terrifying. And when you’re scaling, new sets of “what ifs” tend to resurface.

Growth is almost always messy, but as Michelle says, you have to remind yourself: “What’s the worst that can happen?”

Watch the full clip for more, and leave a comment with the line that sticks with you most.

📹 Thank you to @countdownevents for capturing.

Tonight, @cbinvancity, you reminded us to stop focusing on what we’re not and instead focus on what moves us ❤️To take time to consider what problems we want to help solve, who we can move closer to in order to get engaged, and trust that we belong in the room.

It’s advice you’ve lived through your own leadership. By bringing people together around a shared vision, you’ve shown that remarkable things can happen 💯🥂🎉

A builder of communities. A champion of entrepreneurs. A creator of opportunities for others.

Congratulations, @cbinvancity, on this well-deserved Women Of The Year honour from the one and only @bcbusiness_mag 👏🏻🙌🏻🎉

Big news! Our CEO, Kirsten Koppang Telford, has been named to @vancouvermagazine’s Power 50 for the second year in a row!

This recognition doesn’t only reflect Kirsten’s impactful leadership. It reflects what’s possible when women entrepreneurs are funded, mentored, and championed, and when a community chooses to build what comes next together.

With Kirsten’s leadership, The Forum has supported 2,365 entrepreneurs across Canada and delivered 12 unique programs in the past year alone. Now, we’ve enacted a strategic plan that builds on what’s working and scales it, strengthening the pathways, partnerships, and community support that all women entrepreneurs need to grow, scale, and lead.

We deeply appreciate the clarity, care, and momentum Kirsten brings to this mission. We’re grateful for the way she champions this work alongside our team, Board, mentors, partners, donors, and the entrepreneurs at the centre of everything we do.

Please join us in congratulating Kirsten in the comments below!

And thank you again @ryandbenn, @aniqua, @stacey_mclachlan and the whole @vancouvermagazine team for hosting a truly bold, inspiring night of celebrations. We’re grateful for you continually celebrating The Forum and amplifying our work.

International Women’s Day is this week, and if you’re building a business, you already know how much a small moment of support can change your momentum.

If you’re wondering how to support women founders in ways that genuinely help, here are three things you can do that cost nothing and take minutes:

🤝 Make an intro

Think of one woman entrepreneur whose work you believe in, and one person who could open a door. It could be a fellow entrepreneur, a buyer, partner, journalist, funder, or advisor.

Send a warm, specific intro that says what they do and why you’re making the connection.

📣 Share a founder’s work with a thoughtful caption

Tell your network what you tried, learned, or loved. Tag them, link their business, and say who it’s for. Specific shoutouts help the right people find businesses they’ll love.

💌 Spread the word

Forward one opportunity, event, or program to a founder who would benefit. To stay in the know, subscribe to The Forum newsletter (or share it with another entrepreneur).

Who’s an entrepreneur you’re backing this week and always?

Tag them or their business below so more people can find them and support their work.

Fall in love again and again (with AI)

Yesterday, in partnership with @growclass and @camptechco, we hosted The Future of Entrepreneurship: AI in Action, an evening exploring how women entrepreneurs are engaging with and shaping the future of AI in Canada.

Our AI Skills Lab Canada alumnae first took part in group discussions facilitated by Carol Wilder and Jennifer Hufnagel, then showcased how they’re already using their new AI knowledge to spark innovation in their work and businesses.

We were also joined by Karla Congson, CEO and CTO of @agentiiv, Canada’s first fully hybrid Human/AI consultancy. A big thank you to Karla for leading such an insightful conversation on demystifying AI, exploring its latest developments, and sharing actionable tools to help us engage, delegate, and innovate with it.

Thank you to all the alumnae, champions, and supporters who joined us for this inspiring evening!

We’re still buzzing from The Odlum Brown Forum Pitch Semi-Final after wrapping our second event in Vancouver last week!

It was a celebration of the incredible Semi-Finalists who took the stage, the three Finalists moving forward, and the community that shows up to help women entrepreneurs access the support they need to grow their businesses.

As these events made clear: when women entrepreneurs have access to capital, mentorship, and community, the impact ripples far beyond the room.

The Odlum Brown Forum Pitch has created life-changing opportunities for the past 10 years, helping entrepreneurs reach their full potential, and enabling all of us to benefit from their innovations.

We have a secret to tell you… 🤫

This year marks the 10th anniversary of The Odlum Brown Forum Pitch—a decade spent transforming the landscape for women entrepreneurs in Canada. Since 2016, The Odlum Brown Forum Pitch has been a launchpad for extraordinary growth. Past Finalists have collectively raised over $27 million and created more than 500 jobs, proving that when women entrepreneurs are given access to the resources they need, they don’t just succeed, they scale, they hire, they innovate, and they reshape entire industries.

To mark this milestone, we’ll be making The Odlum Brown Forum Pitch Finale on April 24 a night to remember, bringing together 800+ founders, business leaders, and community champions to cheer on the Finalists and celebrate a decade of impact.

And this year, we’ll be welcoming a VERY special guest on stage with us… (it’s a big one) 👀

Can you guess who it might be? Let us know in the comments below!
