Brown girl makeup hacks I wish someone told me years ago because trial-and-error was expensive 😭🤎

1️⃣ Mix a drop of red/orange corrector into concealer
If your under-eyes always turn grey no matter what concealer you use, mix the tiniest dot of orange corrector into it. It neutralizes darkness without needing heavy layers.

2️⃣ Use a slightly deeper concealer around the mouth
Using the same bright concealer everywhere can make the mouth area look ashy. A concealer closer to your skin tone there keeps the base seamless.

3️⃣ Tap highlighter with your finger, not a brush
Brushes can make shimmer look dusty on deeper skin. Fingers melt the product into the skin so it looks like a natural glow instead of glitter sitting on top.

4️⃣ Terracotta blush > baby pink blush
Warm terracotta, burnt coral, and brick tones show up beautifully on brown skin and give that natural flush without looking chalky.

5️⃣ Use brown liner to soften bold lipstick
When bright reds or pinks look too stark, lining with a brown liner diffuses the edge and makes the color look way more flattering on deeper lip tones.

Proof that the right techniques make makeup work with your undertones instead of fighting them 🤎💄

Brown girl makeup hacks I wish someone told me years ago because trial-and-error was expensive 😭🤎

✨ 1. Stop using banana powder blindly
Most banana powders turn yellow-ashy on deeper or olive undertones. A soft warm beige or honey powder keeps your under-eyes bright without that flashback ghost effect.

✨2. Use toner pads during makeup prep, if your makeup is pealing there’s chances it not hydrated enough. Just a simple toner pad and moisturizer will do the job.

✨ 3. Your foundation looks dull? It’s probably missing warmth
If your base ever looks flat by evening, mix one drop of liquid bronzer or warmer foundation — brown skin needs dimension, not just coverage .

✨ 4. Blush placement matters more on melanin skin
Place blush slightly higher toward temples instead of only on apples — it lifts the face and gives that natural sun-touched glow brown skin does beautifully.

✨ 5. Mascara on lower lashes = instant eye definition
Especially for brown girls with softer lash contrast — this tiny step makes kajal, liner, and eyeshadow look 10x more intentional.

Brown girl makeup hacks I wish someone told me years ago because trial-and-error was expensive 🫠🫶🏻

✨ Use an orange corrector as a subtle blush base. Dab a tiny bit under your blush and blend—on deeper skin it gives that natural “lit-from-within” warmth instead of chalky pink.

✨Set your under-eye with loose powder before concealer. A light dusting first stops creasing and keeps concealer from turning grey on melanin-rich skin.

✨Mix a drop of liquid bronzer into your foundation. It cancels out that flat look some foundations give brown skin and brings back natural dimension.

✨Line your lips with a deep brown kajal instead of lip liner. It blends softer, gives a natural gradient, and works with almost any lipstick shade.

✨Use warm-toned eyeshadow in the crease before neutral shades. On brown skin this prevents eyeshadow from looking ashy and makes the colors pop effortlessly.

Brown girls know the struggle… sometimes the trick isn’t buying new products, it’s using the ones you already have smarter

Yes these concealer tips would’ve saved me YEARS of bad makeup days😬 but you want to save this reel so you don’t forget about these tips!

1️⃣ Mixing my foundation with my concealer changed my whole game.
Straight concealer was always too heavy or too grey. Mixing the two gives coverage and skin-like warmth.

2️⃣ Colour correctors aren’t extra — they’re strategic.
A tiny bit of peach/orange where there’s darkness means you need less concealer overall.

3️⃣ Your undertone matters more than the shade name.
If it looks ashy, it’s not your face — it’s the undertone mismatch.

4️⃣ Placement > product.
You don’t need a full triangle. Target darkness only and blend outward.

5️⃣ Let layers breathe.
Thin layers, short pauses. Makeup needs a second to behave.

Makeup didn’t start looking better because I bought more —
it changed when I understood how to use what I already had.
Save this if makeup has ever made you feel confused instead of confident ✨

I’m not against high end makeup but I think I’m not the only one who doesn’t feel like spending thousands on each makeup product 🫠
ESPECIALLY if you wear makeup daily!

I don’t apply a primer regularly but if you’re looking for a good one @nyxcosmetics_canada ‘s plump primer with electrolytes is the one to go !

@elfcosmetics ‘s gripping setting spray! Before, during and after the whole routine!
@maybelline ‘s lumi matte foundation! This gives me so much glow! And the shade range is perfect for brown girls. I personally am an olive girly and I’m HIGHLY impressed with this foundation!
@maybelline ‘s Eraser Concealer ! The OG girl of hydrating concealers you cannot go wrong with this one honestly!
@elfcosmetics ‘s sauve mauve blush! So pretty on brown girls.

And the controversial bit, setting your makeup is the key to long lasting makeup so I usually use the @hudabeauty ‘s new pressed powder and if you have the budget to splurge the do it

OR @kosas (my personal fav) cloud set pressed setting powder!

Butttt if you are looking for more affordable option you can use @revlon ‘s setting powder (I’ve heard great things but haven’t tried it)

Here are 5 very real reasons your skincare isn’t working (and no, it’s not because you “haven’t found the right product”):
1️⃣ You’re layering like it’s a buffet. Just because TikTok says 7 steps doesn’t mean your skin agreed. Overloading = confused, irritated skin.
2️⃣ Your cleanser is quietly sabotaging you. If your face feels tight after washing, congrats—you’ve already lost the plot.
3️⃣ Your Night time skincare routine is too early- I believe the best time to use actives and targeted products is your PM routine but most of us do our skincare routine 20-30 minutes before bed and that’s not helping us at all! It’s suggested that you do your skincare routine at least 1 hour before bed.
4️⃣ You expect glow in 3 business days. Skin cycles don’t care about your impatience. Consistency > panic buying.
5️⃣ You treat skincare like aesthetics, not skin health. Cute shelf, zero barrier repair. Priorities, babe.

If this felt a little too specific… follow me. Your skin will thank you later💗

✨Mix a drop of red/orange corrector into
concealer
If your under-eyes always turn grey no matter what concealer you use, mix the tiniest dot of orange corrector into it. It neutralizes darkness without needing heavy layers.
✨Use a slightly deeper concealer around the
mouth
Using the same bright concealer everywhere can make the mouth area look ashy. A concealer closer to your skin tone there keeps the base seamless.
✨Tap highlighter with your finger, not a brush
Brushes can make shimmer look dusty on deeper skin. Fingers melt the product into the skin so it looks like a natural glow instead of glitter sitting on top.
✨Terracotta blush > baby pink blush
Warm terracotta, burnt coral, and brick tones show up beautifully on brown skin and give that natural flush without looking chalky.
✨Use brown liner to soften bold lipstick
When bright reds or pinks look too stark, lining with a brown liner diffuses the edge and makes the color look way more flattering on deeper lip tones.

Proof that the right techniques make makeup work with your undertones instead of fighting them💗

Luxury is cute. Overpriced is not.
Here’s me watching my girlies drop $$$ on formulas the drugstore perfected in its sleep!

1️⃣ Dior Backstage Foundation → @loreal.canada True Match OR @maybelline ‘s Lumi matte
Same skin-like finish, same shade range logic, way less damage to your bank account.

2️⃣ Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Powder → @revlon Pressed Powder
Blurs, sets, doesn’t turn you into a cake at 3pm.

3️⃣ Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter → e.l.f. Halo Glow
Same lit-from-within energy. One just comes with financial peace.

4️⃣ Make Up For Ever Setting Spray → @milanicosmetics Milani Make It Last
Locks it in through sweat, tears, and bad decisions.

5️⃣ Benefit Brow Gel → @elfcosmetics Wow Brow
Holds, tints, behaves. Brows don’t know the difference.

1️⃣ Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Toner → HaruHaru Wonder’s Black rice probiotics barrier essence ! Aka my fav milky toner for 8 months now! It is definitely glowier and more pocket friendly
Less fragrance, more calming, actually fixes irritation instead of flirting with it.
2️⃣ Drunk Elephant Protini →Purito Mighty Bamboo Panthenol cream! Soo good if you have redness and want to calm down your skin.
3️⃣ La Roche-Posay Cicaplast → Etude SoonJung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream
Same soothing goal, lighter feel, zero pore-clogging drama.
4️⃣ Paula’s Choice BHA → COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid
Gentler exfoliation that works with your skin, not against it.
5️⃣ Laneige Water Sleeping Mask → Torriden Dive-In Soothing Cream / Mask
Deep hydration, no fragrance overload, skin still plump in the morning. This will work soo well if you have dry skin and struggle with dry patchy skin !
K-beauty doesn’t shout.
It just delivers.
Follow me before marketing convinces you otherwise. ✨🫶

✨Prep:
@haruharuwonder_official ‘s black rice probiotics barrier essence
@purito_official ‘s bamboo panthenol cream
@skin1004official ‘s sunscreen!

✨Makeup
1. Colour corrector- @elfcosmetics colour corrector for under eyes

2. Foundation- @maybelline Lumi Matte foundation, my fav foundation ever. The shade match on this range is amazing!

3. Concealer- @maybelline Eraser concealer, the og “serum concealer “ before it was even a thing !

4. Setting spray- @elfcosmetics ‘s gripping setting spray sooo affordable yet so good!

Now comes the controversial bit.. I have mentioned the Revlon’s pressed setting powder as an affordable option but I never seem to find it in stock whenever I’m looking for it….

So for ✨setting powder ✨ I’ve used the @kosas pressed setting powder! Truly saves my dry skin 🫶🏻
