The new eMTB+ mode for the @boschebikesystems.us motors on my @crestlinebikes is a good time!

The Performance Line CX already had tons of power, but the new update gives you up to 100NM of torque, and the new eMTB+ mode allows you to really dial in your settings.

The update only takes a few minutes to download through the Bosch eBike Flow app and you’re ready to rip!

Biggest tire tap/bump jump thing I’ve ever done. 😅🫣😂

Good times here in Utah for the @prodownhillseries. Went fast for half my seeding run yesterday and jacked the rest of it. Lol Looking forward to racing and cleaning things up today.

“I’m excited for this new, and possibly final, chapter of my racing career with Frameworks Racing / TRP. I’ve got the support to fully focus on racing again and the equipment to win. That’s what I was looking for, and I’m stoked to be doing it with a great group of friends. I’m looking forward to enjoying all the hard work and seeing what we can accomplish together.”

This is the “not so fun” side of our sport. Had this crash during practice on race day last weekend. I’ve never hit my head that hard racing mountain bikes and wanted to share my thoughts and thank you’s quick.

Was off line by about 6inches, hit a root and went straight into a tree. The tree pad rotated when I hit it so my head hit the actual tree. Thankfully, my @bellhelmets helmet did an incredible job of soaking up the full impact as you can see. My neck, shoulders, and everything else hurt, and still does, but my head felt good.

Now onto the positives. I’ve been working with the team at @neurocatch for over a year now. They make a device that is able to measure cognitive function, on site, in less than 10 minutes. They’ve partnered with @dirtmedical at these last few @prodownhillseries national rounds to provide on site medical care and they were at the race last weekend. Unfortunately, I ended up becoming the prime candidate for what we were hoping to offer for other athletes.

My head felt ok after the crash but I wanted to make sure. Within 15 minutes of the end of practice, I was in the tent, getting a scan. We were able to combine my scan results, along with balance tests, a call with an offsite doctor at Neurocatch, etc to determine that I was ok to race. They were also able to quickly recommend a recovery routine, on site physio treatment, follow up scans etc to speed up my recovery and offset any delayed symptoms.

In the past, if you hit your head at a race, there’s almost zero support in figuring out whether it’s a good idea to get back on track or not. There’s no tests, no consistent medical team, just your own thoughts, how you “feel”, and what your team thinks. I’ve seen athletes with obvious concussions back on track for race runs a few hours later.

Having a consistent medical team and these devices/recovery tools, in my opinion, are a big step forward in athlete care at races. As our sport continues to grow, I hope that this type of care becomes standard in all of the major race series so that athletes can have the longest, healthiest careers possible.

Anyways, big thanks to all of the above people for the support last weekend. ❤️

📝 TIP OF THE DAY: When I’m working with a beginner to intermediate level rider, one of the main things I try to work on is the ability to use your entire lower body and limbs while maintaining a “quiet” upper body (head and chest). One of the most common technique issues is to lock out all your limbs. Even if they’re bent, you don’t allow them to freely move through full range of motion. This is natural when you’re timid or scared so you grip the bike hard and lock into what feels like a strong safe position. In reality, you actually give up your greatest strength to tackling more difficult terrain, and that’s your leverage and ability to use not only your bike, but your entire body as a suspension system. This also allows your head and chest to stay very still and stable so that you can read terrain (eyes up) and stay in an actual strong riding position. When you tense up and lock your arms and legs (even in a bent position), your entire body, head included, will then get pitched back and forth on every obstacle you ride over. On top of that, you’ll also struggle with grip because the wheels will come off the ground higher and more often making everything harsher and your suspension work harder. Worst case scenario is you’ll get bucked because when you hit a jump, drop, rock, etc, you don’t give the bike room to come up underneath you. If your limbs are locked and the rear suspension rebounds, the energy can only go one direction and that’s forward. Watch this video, notice how everything moves underneath me, except my head and chest. Hope that helps. 👊🏼 #fastandloose #practicemakesprogress #tipoftheday #sucklesstosuccess
