A 22-year-old disabled woman was found locked inside a dog kennel, screaming for help, in a backyard in Anson, Texas, on November 22, 2025. Justin Anderson, a neighbor, heard the woman's screams and came to see what was happening. He recorded the horrific discovery on his phone. The woman's foster mom, 60-year-old Kandice “Kandy” Thompson was arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including kidnapping and injury to a disabled person. She was released on bond, and then re-arrested on additional aggravated kidnapping charges on November 25. Kandy and her late husband, a former Anson police chief, had fostered over 50 children throughout the years together before he died in 2020. When police arrived there were two other adult foster children in the home. The victim has since been removed and is with family. Adult Protective Services is managing her case along with the Anson Police Department. Anson Police Chief Daniel Graziose said the case remains active and stated, “For the city of Anson, we take it very seriously, and we’re serious about protecting, especially our most vulnerable citizens.” #truecrime

During a hearing on March 11 for two Lake Brantley High School students accused of plotting to kill a classmate, prosecutors played new footage that showed the girls in the back seat of a patrol car after their arrest in January. The video showed the pair laughing after being placed in the patrol car while discussing what led to their arrest. Police say that Lake Brantley High School received an anonymous tip on January 22 via the FortifyFL website. A judge ruled there was too much of a danger to the community for Isabelle Valdez, 15, and Lois Lippert, 14, to be released on bond. Valdez and Lippert each face charges of attempted first-degree murder and possession of a weapon on school property. Both Valdez and Lippert have entered not guilty pleas. Both will remain in custody until their hearings next month.

A Florida woman has been arrested in connection with the 1983 abduction of her daughter, Michelle Newton, who was taken at age 3 and remained missing for more than 40 years. Police say her mother, Debra Newton, allegedly raised Michelle under a false identity after cutting off contact with the girl’s father. Authorities say Debra Newton was also living under the alias Sharon Nealy, and had since remarried. She was No. 8 on the FBI's Most Wanted List for parental kidnapping fugitives at one time. However, she avoided detection for decades. The case was reopened after a CrimeStoppers tip, leading investigators to locate both Debra and Michelle. Debra was arrested and faces felony charges in Kentucky. Michelle, who is now 46, has been informed of the truth and recently reunited with her biological father and other family members. #truecrime #missingperson

Newly released police footage captures Gregory Timm, the man accused of shooting a wheelchair-bound veteran on Seattle’s waterfront, revealing the startling fact that just hours earlier he had pitched a public safety strategy to the City Council. Timm proposed ceiling-mounted retractable paintball turrets intended to deter violence in public spaces. Later that day, prosecutors say he confronted the victim—who had military patches on his wheelchair—accusing him of “stolen valor,” and ripped off a patch. Video shows Timm pulling a handgun from his backpack and shooting the man in the chest. In police cruiser footage after his arrest, Timm claims self-defense, saying the victim pulled a gun on him. The victim survived and is recovering at home. Timm has pleaded not guilty and remains in custody on $750,000 bail, with trial expected to begin in early October. #truecrime

WATCH THE SCENE SPIRAL! It starts with a kiss between two suspects when deputies in El Paso County pulled over Jaren Adrian Dickerson, 26, and Jaclyn Nicole Chavez, 28 on September 18, 2025. Police say that's when Dickerson gave a false name and bolted. Police dashcam shows Chavez jumping behind the wheel and fleeing. The pair’s escape was short-lived. Deputies found the vehicle and arrested Chavez; an hour later they cornered Dickerson in a deserted area, tased him. After being tased, Dickerson told officers, “That didn’t even hurt”, while taking him into custody. Dickerson turned out to have an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon from 2021; both were booked—Dickerson is facing charges including evading arrest, failure to identify, and assault, and Chavez for evading arrest. #caughtoncamera #truecrime

HE KILLED A PREDATOR? At a preliminary hearing, prosecutors presented evidence they say links 18-year-old Kian Neal to the killing of registered sex offender Robert Locke, including a recorded police interview in which Neal confessed to targeting Locke after finding him on the sex offender registry because he believed he was carrying out "justice." According to investigators, Neal admitted to entering Locke's home, restraining him with zip ties, killing him with a hammer, dismembering the body, and disposing of the remains in a dumpster, with surveillance video allegedly capturing part of the disposal. Prosecutors also introduced evidence including Locke's blood found in Neal's vehicle, surveillance footage showing Locke entering the vehicle before his disappearance, and testimony from a juvenile who said Neal confessed and expressed remorse. Police searched the Birchwood Landfill based on Neal's statements but have not announced that Locke's remains were recovered. A judge ruled there was enough evidence to send the case to a grand jury, and Neal remains in custody. #TrueCrime #MurderCase #CourtNews #VigilanteJustice

"You are perhaps the worst of the worst." A West Virginia judge condemned a Sissonville man who was sentenced to 60 to 185 years in prison for the repeated sexual assault of a 9-year-old child. Nicholas Quade, 25, pleaded guilty in August to five felony counts, including first-degree sexual assault, sexual abuse by a person in a position of trust, and first-degree sexual abuse. According to investigators, deputies were called to a hospital in February 2024 after the child reported being raped by Quade. The court heard details of the abuse during sentencing, where the judge, Tera Salango told Quade he was a “monster” and said the community needed protection from people like him. Judge Salango imposed the maximum possible sentence, expressing that she hoped Quade would die in prison. If he were ever released, he would face 50 years of extended supervision and would be required to register as a sex offender for life. During the hearing, Quade’s defense team raised concerns about his mental state, but the court noted that a previous psychological evaluation had already found him competent to stand trial. The judge stated that she would not consider any alternative or reduced sentence given the severity of his crimes. #truecrime

“SHE DIDN’T FEEL GUILTY THEN. I DON’T BELIEVE SHE FEELS GUILTY NOW.” The suspected “ringleader” of a group accused of the torture and murder of a transgender man has pled guilty to all of her charges. In February 2024, police found the body of Sam Nordquist in a Canandaigua, New York field. Police say Sam was physically and sexually assaulted, and forced to do degrading acts like drink and eat urine and feces. Seven suspects were arrested and charged in connection to the crime: 38-year-old Precious Arzuaga, 33-year-old Kyle Sage, 30-year-old Patrick Goodwin, 30-year-old Jennifer Quijano, 29-year-old Kimberly Sochia, 21-year-old Thomas Eaves, and 19-year-old Emily Motyka. At this moment, Motyka and Arzuaga are the only two to plead guilty. On June 2, Motyka pled guilty to second-degree murder and second-degree kidnapping. She faces a minimum of 15 years to life in prison and a maximum of 50 years to life in prison. On June 26, Arzuaga pled guilty to first-degree murder, kidnapping, aggravated sexual abuse, concealment of a human corpse, conspiracy, coercion and endangering the welfare of a child. On September 4, she’s expected to be sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. The remaining five suspects are awaiting their separate trials. #TrueCrime #GuiltyPlea #VictimImpact

A professional fisherman from Georgia has been charged with three counts of reckless manslaughter and other crimes for a deadly boating crash on Alabama's Smith Lake in April 2025. A grand jury in Cullman County, Alabama, returned an eight-count indictment against 22-year-old Flint Andrew Davis on October 2. Investigators say Davis was driving his boat at around 67 mph when he slammed full-speed into another boat full of fishermen. Three men were killed and two others were seriously injured in the wreck. Wrongful death lawsuits have been filed on behalf of deceased victims Joey Broom, John Clark, and Jeffrey Little. Investigators say Davis simply wasn't paying enough attention to his surroundings leading up the collision. Neither alcohol nor excessive speed played a role in the accident. In addition to manslaughter, Davis faces assault and reckless operation charges, along with violations of boating rules and safety certification laws. Alabama state police investigators say Davis lacked both a boating safety certification from his home state and an Alabama non-resident boating license at the time of the crash, one of which he was required by law to possess. Attorneys for Davis say he is deeply remorseful and that the collision was a tragic accident. #truecrime

A teenage girl was murdered in Louisiana in 1982. Her cold case murder investigation went unsolved for more than 40 years. Then Louisiana State Police tried something no one saw coming: they partnered with trusted local radio host and podcaster Charles Dowdy of Lake 94.7 to launch a true crime podcast in hopes someone would finally come forward. And it worked. After the podcast "Who Killed Roxanne?" generated new tips, witness cooperation, and renewed interest in the decades-old murder mystery, four men were charged in connection with Roxanne Sharp’s killing. In this episode of Criminally Obsessed, Anne Emerson speaks with Dowdy about the chilling homicide investigation, the emotional toll of revisiting the crime scene evidence, and the moment he addressed the suspected killers directly: “See you soon.” More than four decades later, Roxanne’s family may finally be closer to justice for Roxanne. Deputies in Sumter County, Florida, recaptured 39-year-old inmate Joseph Brown on Sunday after he escaped his kitchen work detail, stole an e-bike and then a car, and led officers on a miles-long pursuit that ended in a pond. Guided by helicopter footage, deputies pulled an apologetic Brown from the water as he repeatedly said he was sorry. Authorities say he slipped away around 5 p.m., ditched his prison shirt, stole an e-bike in Bushnell, and was later seen driving a stolen car seven miles south. The sheriff’s office credited the coordinated efforts of deputies, detectives, K-9 units, drones, and aviation support for the quick arrest and said security procedures will be reviewed. Bodycam footage shows Brown insisting he wasn’t on drugs and saying he fled because he wanted to contact his child. #truecrime #caughtoncamera

On October 18, 2024, outside Timberline High School in Lacey, Washington, 17-year-old Israa Ali was allegedly attacked by her own parents in an attempted “honor killing." She'd refused to travel to Iraq for an arranged marriage with an older man. Prosecutors say her father, Ihsan Ali, choked her until she lost consciousness, while her mother, Zahraa Ali, may have also physically assaulted her during the incident. Newly revealed bodycam footage shows Zahraa fixated on her husband’s arrest, screaming “This is my husband” and repeatedly trying to reach him, rather than checking on their daughter’s condition. Officers testified that she showed little concern for the victim and instead blamed the girl’s boyfriend for changing her behavior. Jurors have already heard testimony from students, the victim, her boyfriend, medical professionals, and police. School officials who witnessed the aftermath are expected to testify later this week.

"COWARD!" Judge Timothy Mazzei didn't pull punches with his assessment of the Gilgo Beach Serial Killer, Rex Heuermann, as he sentenced him June 17 to life without parole in prison. "You're a disgusting and despicable small man, If you're a man at all! And you're a coward!" Mazzei said, following up by questioning if Heuermann felt any remorse for his crimes. "The words I would say have no meaning," Heuermann said, after Mazzei raked him over the coals to illicit a bare-minimum apology. Heuermann's sentence comes after he pleaded guilty earlier in 2026 to the murders of seven women he strangled to death and dismembered in the New York area between 1993 and 2011. Heuermann also confessed to an eighth murder, and authorities speculate he may be responsible for more. #GilgoBeach #LongIslandSerialKiller #Courtroom

In a surprising twist to a story previously covered by Criminally Obsessed, Aaron Spencer — an Arkansas man charged with second-degree murder in the 2024 shooting of a man he found with his underage daughter — has announced he is running for Lonoke County Sheriff. Spencer launched his campaign Friday via Facebook, positioning his candidacy as a call for safer communities and greater trust in law enforcement. “This campaign isn’t about me,” he said. “It’s about… every family who deserves to feel safe.” The announcement comes nearly a year after Spencer was accused of fatally shooting 67-year-old Michael Fosler. At the time, Spencer had reported his 14-year-old daughter missing, later locating her in a vehicle with Fosler — who was out on bond and facing charges related to the alleged sexual assault of the same girl. Authorities say Spencer pursued Fosler's car before opening fire. Spencer is currently awaiting trial which is scheduled for January 26, 2026. Video credit: Aaron Spencer’s Facebook page #truecrime
