That's mainly a personal preference. Either should have enough length to fit securely over our Yulex Booties, which are quite tall. Our experts say they would personally go shorter to avoid having extra material over their ankles or touching the tops of their feet (when not wearing booties). You could try ordering both sizes, or popping into a local store to try them on, if that's an option. You could also call one of our retail locations near surf (like Santa Cruz) to see if there's a consensus among their customers. If you have additional questions, please feel free to send us a DM.
