What if instead of spending $400k on college, you gave your kid $200k to:
• Year 1: $50k to backpack the world, get uncomfortable, learn languages, be vulnerable
• Year 2: $150k seed capital to start and run their own company for a full year
After touching operations, finance, marketing, HR, legal, customer service... they'd actually know what they're drawn to.
Then they can either keep building or go to college informed about what they actually want to do.
Radical? Maybe. But when do we actually give people a chance to figure out what they care about?

A few months ago, I made a list of 300 things to do before I die. Then I turned it into a four-foot poster and hung it in my house.
At first, it just felt like a fun creative project. But it quickly became something much bigger. The list gave me something to reach for on the hard days. It gave me direction when I felt lost and it made me excited about the future again.
I walk past it every day, and every day, I feel this subtle reminder of "Oh yeah… I'm building a really dope life."
Now when my weekend plans get canceled, instead of doom-scrolling, I just pick something off the list. Dance alone in my kitchen for one full song. Build a time capsule. Visit that coffee shop I've been meaning to try.
Some things are big picture projects I can't knock out in a day. But having them written down makes them feel possible instead of just pipe dreams.

Sometimes we tell strangers what we can't tell our own family.
A neighbor knocked on my guest's door after a breakup. She was crying, needed someone to talk to. After sharing her story, she said something that stuck: "I can't talk to my mom or sister about this because they'll tell me to move on and that I'm better than him. I'm not ready to hear that yet."
There's something about strangers that feels safer. No judgment. No agenda. Just listening.
Maybe that's why we're more honest with people who don't know our history.

Where do you go when you're heartbroken?
This question changed everything for my guest - a former Bachelor producer who got fed up with the fact that heartbreak gets no sick day.
Think about it: you can get a doctor's note for a cut finger, but not for emotional devastation. You can go to the gym to work out, the library to learn, the grocery store for food.
But where do you go when your heart is shattered?
So she studied AA meetings, started her own heartbreak support group, and even dreamed up "Heartbreak Hotel" - complete with puppies, rom-coms, and ice cream.
Because sometimes strangers understand your pain better than anyone else.

In 2014, the US Surgeon General toured the country expecting to find obesity or drug issues as our biggest health crisis.
Instead, he discovered something far more devastating: 1 in 2 Americans are lonely.
This isn't about being alone. Loneliness is internal. You can be surrounded by people and still feel completely isolated.
It all started in 2010 when social media exploded. We began connecting online but stopped connecting in person.
The difference? In-person interactions create meaningful connections. Digital ones often don't.
We traded depth for convenience. Real conversations for quick likes.

"Just get laid" is the worst advice you can give a heartbroken friend.
I learned this the hard way at 22. Going through real pain, didn't want to go out. My buddy said it loud, in front of people: "Dude, you need to just get laid. Get over her."
What was I supposed to say back? We didn't have the vocabulary for emotional support.
Instead of "man up" try this:
"I got you. I've been there. What do you need right now?"
Support your homie. Don't push him toward what you think is cooler.
We can do better than this.

Walking into that MMA gym terrified changed everything for me.
Zero combat skills. Everyone else was a killer. I just said "Hey, I'm Jake. I'm new. Can you teach me?"
Scary as hell.
But they couldn't have been more welcoming. I got obsessed - training 2-3 times a day.
Then I overheard the coaches in a meeting: "People walk in here fucking terrified. You don't know what it's like to be overweight and 29, never fought a day in your life, and ask for help."
They had a whole system: Remember names. Text after the first week. Offer free massages. Make people feel accepted.
Why? "We can trust they're in good hands here."
That's leadership. Making the scary thing feel safe.

We obsess over our bodies, our diets, our workouts. But we're ignoring the epidemic that's quietly destroying us from the inside.

So stop putting time and distance between where you are now and where you want to be.
Tell yourself: "I've already moved on. I'm already healed. I'm already worthy."
View your exes as teachers, not enemies. What did they teach you? How can you apply that lesson to the future?
Write that new story. Tell yourself it's already reality.
It's not up to you to decide when it happens, but the more you tell yourself that new story, the faster you'll become it.
