We got in the car and drove like five miles for her to show me this trick on the bar.

She's flipping around. She gets hung up and I go, "Are you stuck?" It was natural, but I think that might be the most important thing we ever asked as dads. She's hanging on there, struggling, and I could help right away. I could just go lift her up. But here's the thing. Dads ask, "Are you stuck?"

Because we have the ability to fix a lot of things. But we're also asking our kids to grow, to try first. I feel like we learn this from watching God deal with us. He could fix every single problem right away. But he cares more about who we become than fixing everything fast. He doesn't just want to change what's happening. He wants us to change.

And look, she's not crying. She's actually laughing and trying again because I didn't jump in too fast. Sometimes love means simply asking, "Are you stuck?" and standing there with the power to help, but also the power to help them grow. Waiting for growth.

Follow if that’s something you want more of.

This month I’m talking to men

I’m making (releasing) art for men

I’m writing for men

starting with my own men

I can’t imagine being a kid growing up 2026

the devil wages non stop war

physical, social, emotional, spiritual…

and there is literally NO AVOIDING IT

We (adults, especially grown men) have to confront

like pornography and screen addiction

and lack of real friendship

and lack of purpose
We need to challenge them

and teach our boys to follow Jesus!!!

AND LEAD FROM THE FRONT

by doing it ourselves

that doesn’t mean pretending to be tough

it means actually doing the spiritual and physical work that it takes to

get back in shape, unaddicted, and tough minded

anyway, now I’m rambling

(and setting the bar really high for myself)

let’s be bold with our boys and change the world.

My 16-year-old son saw it… and asked to put it in his room. Didn’t see that coming.

But then maybe I should have...

Don't all of us want to be Peter here?

...doing something daring while our friends in the boat "gas us" up?

Following Jesus freaks me out
(maybe that’s the point)

But facing that fear changes my life for good every time

Peter didn’t ask for a sign

He asked for a command

“Come”

Then he did the impossible

Peter walked on water

What’s Jesus telling me to do?

And if I do it

What will it do to my friends?

My family?

The guys in my boat?

Will they somehow be emboldened to jump out of the boat too?

Eyes on Jesus.

I love Jesus. SO MUCH. I love all of you, so much. I’ve learned, pretty personally as of late, that there are a lot of hurting people in the world right now. I don’t care what your political or religious views are. I just love you. Even if you don’t believe in God that is okay, but know YOU ARE LOVED BY HIM.

I wish we could all walk in each other‘s footsteps a little bit more. I wish we all had more understanding of each other‘s lives, cultures and backgrounds. I still have hope that we can get there. And I absolutely know that we can with Jesus. ❤️

Genuinely, from the bottom of my heart I am asking each of you that reads this for honest opinions and answers for me to ponder on. I am seeking for real and raw conversation…

Can’t we all love each other a little more? When do we sue for peace and when do we fight? When is either of those options appropriate and good? How do we become or act the most like Jesus would want us to?😭
Thank you and I love you.
Love,
Cara

The most stunning and beautiful art piece here is by @reflectionsofchrist and I’m absolutely just mystified and in love with it. 😭It’s Jesus calling each of us out onto the waters, come to Him in full FAITH. Turn it all over to Him. He will take care of you.

*This video is completely unstaged, I set the art up here last night (hence the dark lighting) to get a good look at it and my little boy came up and just stared and stared at it. He then told me “mom that’s Peter walking out to Jesus!” 😭 @reflectionsofchrist thank you for creating such a piece.❤️

Last night late, my youngest son,

who watches Charlie Kirk videos on youtube

asked,

“if Charlie was good, why would God let him die like that?”

How to explain to a kid that God isn’t in the business of stopping every bullet that flies toward a good man or woman?

Jesus is a lot of things…

In fact, He’s everything He needs to be.

And although He helps us face death, He’s not death insurance

“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul…”

And while He helps us process pain, He doesn’t stop it

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.”

The HOPE that Jesus offers is

strength to change

And the reality that

sadness can be redeemed for joy

animosity for love

evil for good.

One broken heart at a time.

I believe that God values bravery

and it’s brave to offer everyone the faith that is in you

at risk of ridicule, rejection, and even sometimes death

and I believe that we can help hearts turn to Jesus

and to turn quickly

and dramatically.

Belief in Jesus is how everything changes.

And it’s a choice.

I pray that good men and women will NEVER STOP TESTIFYING

of how Jesus changed them.

I’m thankful for Jesus in my life

and for all of the people who remind me of what that faith is worth

Am I the only man

who went to bed Sunday night

after watching Charlie Kirk’s memorial

feeling like like I have wasted too much time?

I tossed and turned trying to figure out

where I went soft

where I lost my edge

and Monday morning I got the first part of an answer, I think

I read the Matthew 15 account

of Jesus walking out to the boat…

The disciples thought He was a ghost

they were terrified

and they didn’t even believe Jesus when He said,

“take heart, it is I, be not afraid.”

That’s when Peter gave the me

the cure to my current unmanliness

hint: he didn’t ask Jesus to “prove it” or to do a Jesus trick

(He had seen plenty of miracles already)

He said,

“Lord, if it’s you, command me to come to you on the water.”

What?

“Command me”

Not “help me”

not “feed me”

not “make me feel good”

But ask me to do something impossible!!!

Like walk on water

For Peter the proof was in the call

if it’s really Jesus, than

NOTHING HE COMMANDS ME IS IMPOSSIBLE

even crazy things like walking on water

My monday night prayers were different

a little less of “please help me”

a lot more of “Jesus command me”

*yes, that’s scary

because when I asked that as a 19 years old I ended up in Russia

at 30 I left my photography career to testify of Jesus

at 40 I moved my family across the country

what will He command next?

I have a new picture that I’ve been holding back

but I can’t any more

I need to make it public as soon as possible

because it’s an uncomfortable reminder that

following Jesus is about doing the

things that freak us out

and also change our lives

for good.

Lena wakes from a nap

Totters toward the living room

where huge expensive Resurrection canvas leans on the wall.

Then the moment…

Lena reaches out her tiny hand

and touches His robe…

she squeaks, “Jesus!”

(Pause: I have several DM’s from panicked collectors asking how to get little handprints off of Jesus’ white robe)

I wasn’t there

I only saw the reel

And my heart leaped because

as little Lena smiled and put her hands all over the art

No one panicked!

No one grabbed her hand!

Her parents just let her explore

and let her connect the idea Jesus

to celebration and family,

I love them for that.

Because someday she’ll show up in the living room with a question

or a problem

or a broken heart

that’s too big for mom and dad to handle alone

and planted somewhere deep inside her will be

the memory of mom and dad cheering as she reaches for Jesus.

And while a perfectly clean Reflections of Christ canvas might impress the neighbors

and retain some ‘value’,

one that bears the fingerprints of your baby

will become priceless…

“Touch and see” (Luke 24:39).

most people think fitness is about the body

I think for my mom it was about availability

Proverbs 31 says “she girds herself with strength and makes her arms strong”

I used to think that was a checklist

but watching my mom I think it’s a theology

she kept herself ready for a moment she couldn’t predict

and when it came at 9 PM on a Tuesday

she didn’t have to think about it

her body was already in the conversation

because she’d been showing up at 4 AM for 15 years

He changed my life forever. 🤟🏻🥹🤍

Part 1
I was only 12 years old when an ASL interpreter noticed I didn’t have one at church. He boldly approached me and my family and asked if he could interpret for me. Honestly, I can’t imagine how my life would have turned out if it weren’t for his courage to step out in faith. 😭

I hope this encourages YOU to step out in faith! You never know how you might change someone’s life. Have courage! 🔥

It’s about trust when nothing has happened yet.

Waiting for God to speak.

And when heaven breaks in,

gratitude won’t stay in the boat.

It throws itself back toward the One it trusted.

think about how Jesus faced down

things that make the rest of us afraid.

He spoke truth to authority

Jesus called the Pharisees “whitewashed tombs”

To Pilate He called Himself a King

and He stepped between a frightened woman and a group of men about to stone her…

Jesus touched a leper

He walked out to the wilderness to face the devil, alone, after fasting for forty days

He walked into a grave yard and healed a man possessed by demons

and at the very end…

He paraded strait back into Jerusalem on the back of a colt

knowing that He would be killed…

Of all the things to thing about Jesus

His Fearlessness makes my heart beat a little faster

makes me a little more bold

much more confident

He wasn’t afraid of water

He wasn’t afraid of heights

He wasn’t afraid of starving

He wasn’t afraid of bad guys

or mobs with rocks

or army’s

He wasn’t phased when people judged him

even when those people were actual judges!

He lived above restrictions and traditions

He had his own code of ethics

We call it “the gospel of Jesus Christ”

and when we live it

we are guaranteed the same protections He received…

uh oh

does that mean it might be painful? yes

awkward? probably

unpopular? definitely

but when we live the Gospel of Jesus Christ

we will have strength and focus and love and peace

even in the middle of the craziness
