Not making it as a pro was not a problem for @mauro_classen. Just like Messi in his pursuit of international glory, he never gave up.

This Argentinian coach is shaping Miami’s next generation with the same passion he once chased his dream with, all fueled by fútbol, mate and Messi.

Start early. Stay late.

Come for the Rainbow flick free-kicks, stay for the Rabona finishes by the corner flag... 🥴

@torneo_del_barrio_ isn’t all just red-blooded tackles and on-court brawls, the quality on display rivals that of any street football tournament in the world. And you can take our word for it.

If you hadn’t paid attention last night, you might have thought that it was Neymar on the pitch leading PSG past Aston Villa. Désiré Doué has officially arrived and so has the next stage of Neymar’s legacy.

500 Bundesliga appearances down, just 3 to go for Munich’s favourite son.

And another fun fact: Müller’s first was also Kompany’s last Bundesliga appearance. It’s a funny ol’ game…

In 2013, just months after succeeding Pope Benedict XVI, Pope Francis performed his first ‘miracle’ for his beloved San Lorenzo.

Los Santos went on to avoid relegation to the second division, and in the following season claimed their first Copa Libertadores title. In Argentina, this was dubbed the ‘Francis Effect,’ with the Pope himself telling one journalist “ever since they put my face on the jersey, they’ve been winning everything.”

In his own words: “I always loved playing football, even if I wasn’t very good. In Buenos Aires, people like me were called ‘pata dura’. That’s like having two left feet. But I played. I was often the goalkeeper,”

RIP to a fellow lover of the beautiful game❤️💙

El Pulpo. The silent conductor. Your favourite DM’s Favourite DM and a reminder to the less athletically gifted amongst us that they can have a seat at the table too.

Calling time on his playing career when this season’s curtain falls. 18 years and 36 major honours later. A chapter for the history books. But don’t just take it from us, here’s what his peers had to say…

From the butcher’s block to the pinnacle of world football. In the heart of Miami, Leo Graziano stood in the exact same spot behind his counter as La Albiceleste soared in Qatar. The earliest starts to the latest of finishes.

CEO and chef of Graziano’s, but most importantly, a proud Argentinian. He runs his kitchen like Messi runs the pitch. Same first names, same dedication.

No arbitrary debates about what he “should” have achieved can ever take away what Neymar means to the game. He inspired a generation to see football not just as a matter of wins and losses but as an art form. The seat next to Ronaldinho is taken. And it’s the boy from Mogi das Cruzes who occupies it.

Football-mad teenagers the world over stayed up on shoddy Brazilian streams just for the boy with the Mohawk and the nasal strips. And for those who needed to sleep, the next day YouTube compilations made sure that everyone knew exactly what audacious skill he pulled off the night before.

While others left Brazil early, hellbent on proving themselves in the European game. Neymar seemed to understand more than most that it isn’t really about where you play the game that attracts an audience. It’s about how you play it.

The very embodiment of Joga Bonito. His game so beautiful that the only way to combat it was through brute force. While some hold his injury record against him, watch back any of the horror tackles he used to receive routinely and it starts to make more sense. The violence that his artistry inspired ultimately became his downfall. An irony so bittersweet that it could only be devised by the football gods.

In any other era, he’d have a Ballon d’Or. But is it really such a big deal that he doesn’t? A Champions League trophy, Puskás Award, Copa Libertadores, and ten league titles is a career that most can only dream of. The only name above Pelé’s on A Seleção Canarinho’s top goalscorers list is his. Neymar’s importance to his country is a matter of historical record, no matter what the naysayers have to say about it.

In an age when players are increasingly becoming robotic, we seem to forget that we’ve been graced with a genius whose talents could never be boiled down to numbers. A career that should be celebrated, not put under a microscope.

You can debate as much as you like. But don’t let the discourse keep you from enjoying Neymar. For all his talents and all his faults. Because when it’s over, there won’t be anyone like him again.

From his first appearance for Leicester to his 500th, Jamie Vardy has always done it his way. And with 200 goals to show for it, the proof is in the pudding.
