3 THINGS THAT LEANED ME OUT IN 8 WEEKS

❌🍸 QUITTING ALCOHOL: this was a big one - after about 5 weeks, I started to notice a difference in my metabolism, my ab definition, and how flat my stomach was in the mornings. 

It’s no secret that alcohol inhibits how your body burns fat, so cutting out the booze made a big difference! I’m currently over half way through my 4 month no alcohol goal! 

🐟🥑 90% WHOLE FOODS + NO MEALS OUT: in San Blas islands there are only TWO spots that will cook pizza and that’s IT. 

So we’ve eaten pizza twice in the last 6 weeks but aside from that, everything other meal has been cooked in my kitchen. I still eat chips and chocolate and cookies (obvvvv), but taking out the guess work of what’s in my meals has made a huge difference.

🏝️🏋🏻‍♀️ CONSISTENT 4-5 WORKOUTS A WEEK: living on a sailboat means you don’t always get to stick to your workout schedule. Some days you can’t leave the boat, other days you have huge boat projects that interrupt your entire day. 

But aside from spearing and working, there’s not much else to do in these islands. This is the most consistent I’ve been for a while, and it feels really freaking good!

👉🏽 The best feeling is not having to guess how I’m going to wake up the next day. I have felt bloated only once (and it was the night I had popcorn and crab dip for dinner lmao), and want to feel this good for as long as I can!!

Today we’re working out beside an old water tower on an island that inhabits around 400 indigenous people, called the Guna. This is probably one of the most remote places we have sailed to by far in the last 2.5 years 🏝️ 

Apparently at this particular island, only 10 boats pass by each year. And based on the huge watching party we had, I don’t think any of them have ever seen people exercise there before hahaha 😂 

We are interesting to them, and they are interesting to us but in completely different ways.

Anyway - the extra eyes just gave us extra motivation! Give this lower body workout a try and let me know how it goes!

Yes, I have abs and yes I have a good metabolism, BUT that certainly doesn’t mean I look like that all day! My belly will expand as I eat and drink (and live and be merry), until I go to bed and start the wholeee process over again. 

It’s easy to forget that what we see on here is almost EVERYONES best photos - I’m also guilty of that! But that doesn’t make it true or always honest.

As you can see on my face this one was brutaaaaaal but also crushed me in a way that I love. 

Sometimes I wake up and my body feels like superwoman, and sometimes I wake up and every single rep is a struggle. This was one of those workouts (a struggle… not superwomen lol).

It’s important to not put too much emphasis or value into the days that don’t feel amazing, because not every workout is going to be better than the last! That would be crazy!

What’s important is that you showed up, you kept moving (despite your mind telling you to stop), and you got it DONE.

👉🏽 So I wanted to just remind you of this, next time you’re scrolling through social media and start to compare yourself or feel any sort of negative way.

What you see is almost NEVER the reality. 
And what you see is often smallllll snapshot of someone’s life - and usually the best parts.

So while my butt looks absolutely FANTASTIC in these shorts 👀…

Just know, that’s not really what my butt looks like IRL.

(And it’s probably not what all the other IG fitness girls butts look like IRL either).

I don’t know how I forgot coffee in this video but I also have a coffee with cream in the morning 😌

I’ve mostly been having sandwiches and salads every day, yogurt bowls, Chinese takeout on Fridays, and most evenings a pasta or rice dish. 

I don’t track my calories or macros, but I do make sure I always have a source of protein, carb and fat in each meal. I also don’t eat meat, so there’s quite a bit of seafood and tofu on rotation!

One thing I’ve cut down on a LOT is my chip addiction. I feel like I’m strangely over them? 
Also I’d say 90% of my meals are eaten at home which makes a big difference if you want to drop fat!

BRUTAL 25 MIN WORKOUT ⏰ 

I’m someone who always changes up her workouts, especially when I’m travelling, because I like to keep it interesting 💃🏻 

THIS WORKOUT HOWEVER, I have done so many times. I just keep coming back to it.

The athletic movements, the way my body feels the next day, the way it pushes me to go harder - I honestly love it.

👉🏽 The first three exercises I always keep the same, and then I’ll change up the last two. Today I did DB rows and burpees, but I’ve also done kickthroughs, commandos, mountain climbers, etc.

Sooo I guess in a way, I do still change it lol. But anyway. It’s that good. So save it for your next killer workout day, and let me know what you think!

I know this isn’t what I normally share and post, but honestly, I am so sick and TIRED of seeing the insane amount of materialistic consumption on social media. 

Between a new colored Stanley cup every month, tariff free designer bags & clothes from China, and now this? We are taking it TOO FAR. We don’t NEED this much stuff. 

I hate that this is what impressionable people are seeing every day, making us think we have to buy more, more, MORE(!!) to keep up.

Since when did life become about buying new stuff to make us happy. Since when did we measure success based on what we own (and how much of it we can throw away). Since when did we completely stop caring about the earth and where all our waste goes. 

Next time you open your Amazon cart, just think about whether you really need it. Or if you’re just getting it because your favourite influencer on TikTok is. 

Let’s try and be a bit more mindful of how much we consume and why. Rant over 🌍🤍

It’s been 6 weeks since I had my last sip of alcohol (thank YOU for the send off Cartagena!), and my physique honestly is stoked about it 🔥 

Things I’ve noticed:

👉🏽 My metabolism is REVVING. Like I am starving when I wake up and it feels like my body is burning fat the way it’s supposed to. 

👉🏽 I have ZERO gut issues. I used to get bloated and heavy after drinking ofc, but also randomly throughout the week. Now I wake up with a flat stomach and go to bed feeling satisfied. 

👉🏽 I’m productive afffff. No more hangovers, no missed workouts, no lazy days. While I used to love a hungover day of shutting the blinds, ordering pizza and watching a movie, I like this version of me more 🥺

Things I haven’t noticed:

👉🏽 Even though everyone talks about it, I haven’t seen any changes to my skin, energy or sleep quality.

However I feel like all three of those things were already pretty solid in my life, and perhaps that’s why I never thought to give up drinking sooner.

Either way - as a self proclaimed party girl, I’m proud of myself for making it this far! I know some of you guys have made the decision too after reading this, and it makes me really happy to know I was part of that change.

Some days it’s hard, some days it’s super easy, but that’s like anything worth working for in this life 🤍

It’s been 6 weeks since I had my last sip of alcohol (thank YOU for the send off Cartagena!), and my physique honestly is stoked about it 🔥 Things I’ve noticed: 👉🏽 My metabolism is REVVING. Like I am starving when I wake up and it feels like my body is burning fat the way it’s supposed to. 👉🏽 I have ZERO gut issues. I used to get bloated and heavy after drinking ofc, but also randomly throughout the week. Now I wake up with a flat stomach and go to bed feeling satisfied. 👉🏽 I’m productive afffff. No more hangovers, no missed workouts, no lazy days. My favourite core exercise right now are heavy weighted twists (my clients can confirm 😈).
I try to use 25 pounds or higher to get a really good burn in my obliques, and get a nice little shoulder shred too. 

It’s a great exercise for you to build up to from bodyweight and go heavier as you progress.

Struggling to hit 10K steps a day? YEA GIRL, SAME 😂

But believe me - IT IS OKAY! You can absolutely still hit your fat loss goals without walking hours every day.

🏝️ These last 8 weeks I have been living in remote islands, where there are no roads to walk or run. Just lil islands. My step count for the last eight weeks has been around 500 per day (truly). 

YET. I’ve still dropped fat and leaned out, despite this. Because there is more to fat loss than just walking.

🚨NOTE: In no way am I saying you shouldn’t walk daily. I have all my clients walk 20-30 min a day because of how important it is for hip health, mental health, cardiovascular health AND a tool for fat loss. 

But in NO WAY do I expect them to hit 10,000 steps.

10K steps a day can take an incredible amount of time. Up to 1.5 hours, which many of us simply do NOT have, in addition to making time for our workouts, meal prepping, kids, etc.

But the good news is that research has shown that walking between 4000-6000 steps a day can STILL give you health benefits, without having to take over your life 👏🏽

Some days you will have the time to get those steps in. Some days you won’t even have time to leave the house. And some days you will be stuck on your boat because of torrential rain storms ☔️

👉🏽 But the important lesson here is to remember that just because you see something trending on social media, or that your favourite influencer is doing it, doesn’t mean that YOU have to too to get results. What’s MORE important is learning to work with what you’ve GOT, not focusing on what you don’t have 🫶🏼

2) cooking every single meal at home (zero restaurants out here except for oneeeee pizza) 
3) working out 4-5 days a week consistently 

As you can see, so much of what I’m eating is homemade. Homemade granola, homemade muffins, homemade yogurt, homemade protein bars…

When you’re out here without access to a grocery store, you get creative and that’s been a pretty enjoyable and creative part of living in San Blas 🏝️

I used to be all about straight sets of weighted pull ups, heavy barbell presses, heavy bench press, etc. 
And during that time I put on an amazing amount of strength and muscle!

But my arms felt bulky, fluffy and not feminine…

So I did two things:
1. I dialled in on my diet to cut down on the fluff
2. I started adding in supersets to my upper body workouts, that really targeted the muscles I wanted to define

In every upper body workout, I will add this exercise in OR I will swap the Curl to Press with an Arnold Press (another favourite). I’ll also swap the Lateral Raises with Upright Rows to get a bit more of the front delts.

Upper body workouts don’t have to be boring and you can build sexy, strong, defined arms! ✨

Wow, and just like that, 4 months of no alcohol has come to an end 😮

…except… it definitely wasn’t “just like that” and at times felt like those months would take forever to pass.

Quick background: I decided to quit drinking for 4 months to give my body and my liver a break (I’ve been drinking casually since I was 19!). Also just to see if I could do it AND take myself out of my comfort zone.

✅ The pros:
1. I became more productive than ever. Saturday mornings I spent learning Spanish and then working on my business. No more hungover Sundays curled up watching movies and eating crap.

2. My body turned into a metabolic MACHINE. I would wake up absolutely starving the next day, and my stomach truly had never been flatter.

3. I felt proud of myself and felt like my body really appreciated the break. I felt healthy and hydrated. 

❌ The cons:
1. It was lonely. No other sailors or friends were doing this with me, and I definitely felt left out in a non-intentional way.  Being the only one not drinking as everyone around you gets rowdier - it can be tough. 

2. I got bored AF of Perrier + lime. Especially being on the boat, I didn’t really have any other choices for ‘mocktails,’ but I think being in Canada would be a lot easier.

3. I felt less fun ☹️ I hate to say it, but if I had the choice of going to a beach bonfire to meet strangers, or stay home and watching a flick, I always wanted the latter (but I still often made myself go!!)

I’ll do another video on what I plan to do moving forward, but I really believe this taught me a valuable lesson. I am 100% glad I did it, and I am proud of myself too.
