Whoops👇 A 19-year-old #ArgyleNY man was arrested Saturday after trespassing into the former Downstate Correctional Facility in #FishkillNY and getting stuck inside a prison cell. Cody Mallon reportedly entered the abandoned facility around midnight by crawling through a hole in the fence to take photos. He ended up trapped inside a cell and called for help. Troopers and the Glenham Fire Department rescued him, and he was charged with third-degree criminal trespass, a class B misdemeanor. Learn more👇 A domestic dispute between a City of #Poughkeepsie police officer and a former #DutchessCounty Assistant District Attorney has resulted in both being criminally charged. Officer Michael McDonough-Ewald, 30, was indicted on multiple charges including: Felonies: strangulation, criminal mischief, + filing a false instrument Misdemeanors: assault, stalking, forgery, + child endangerment He pleaded not guilty and was released under supervision, with a protective order issued on behalf of his ex, Anna Thompson, now an #UlsterCounty Assistant District Attorney. Thompson was also indicted and charged with endangering the welfare of a child. She pleaded not guilty and was released on her own recognizance. The charges stem from evidence presented during their bitter custody battle in Dutchess County Family Court. He is expected to appear in U.S. District Court in White Plains on Friday, June 20, on federal fugitive charges. Bustos-Solis was sought after a June 10, 2024, stabbing on Main Street that left Carlos Rodriguez critically injured. Moises Centeno Vargas, 49, was pulled over on Route 9 in Wappinger after a trooper noticed signs of intoxication. An 8-year-old and 10-year-old were also in the vehicle. Vargas failed field sobriety tests and later registered a 0.14% blood alcohol level at the police barracks. What are your thoughts? ICE raided a home on North Elm Street in #BeaconNY, on the morning of June 20, without prior notice to city officials, according to Mayor Lee Kyriacou. It’s still unclear who was detained or whether ICE presented a judicial warrant. ICE has not responded to requests for comment. Beacon Mayor emphasized the city had no role in the operation and reaffirmed the commitment to being a safe and inclusive community. Governor Kathy Hochul announced that starting December 1, Amtrak will restore one of its suspended routes between the two cities and cap fares at $99. Meanwhile, Metro-North will extend service north from Poughkeepsie to Albany–Rensselaer, offering tickets for about $40. It will be the first time Metro-North trains reach Albany since 1967, with service expected to begin in spring 2026. The move follows months of tension with Amtrak, which had cut back service in 2023 to repair tunnels damaged by Hurricane Sandy, sending prices soaring. Have you heard? A 33-year-old Red Hook man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after crashing a truck towing a wood chipper on Budds Corners Road, police said. According to Red Hook Police, Dylan R. Silveria lost control of his 2002 Ford truck Friday afternoon, causing the attached wood chipper to detach and roll over. Officers determined he was intoxicated, with a blood alcohol level of 0.33%, more than four times the legal limit. Have you heard? A propane delivery truck rollover on Route 212 prompted evacuations Friday morning, according to the Centerville-Cedar Grove Fire Department. Fire crews responded around 10:48 a.m. near 1228 Route 212 and found a 3,000-gallon propane truck on its side with an active leak. The driver was not inside the vehicle. A hazmat team from Kingston was called in, and responders sprayed water to disperse the propane and reduce ignition risk. Homes along Route 212 and Pine Lane were evacuated as a precaution. Officials said nearby residences were checked and showed no hazardous readings. After several hours, crews stopped the leak and removed the truck.
