What are your thoughts? Neptune Township has voted to end its 30-year practice of locking gates on two pedestrian bridges connecting Ocean Grove to Asbury Park. The Township Committee voted 4-1 on Monday to overturn the 1995 resolution, which had required the gates to be locked nightly from 12am-5am. The bridges span Wesley Lake and link Ocean Grove within Neptune to Asbury Park. Officials originally cited crime concerns when the policy was adopted in 1995, but the gates have long faced criticism as unnecessary and divisive.
