A Bucks County woman admitted to illegally buying three firearms for her boyfriend, who was later caught prowling outside his ex-girlfriend’s New Hanover home while wearing night-vision goggles.

Kristin Leigh Sweigard, 40, of Warminster, pleaded guilty in Montgomery County Court to multiple charges, including transferring firearms to an ineligible person and lying on federal purchase forms. Prosecutors say she purchased the guns for Edward Cordenner III, 36, of Lansdale, despite knowing he was barred from owning them due to a prior felony conviction.

Cordenner was arrested in February 2024 with one of the weapons, a loaded Taurus 9mm, after police responded to a 911 call. A search of his home uncovered an AR-15-style rifle, a shotgun, and ammunition—also traced back to Sweigard’s purchases.

Prosecutors are seeking an 8- to 16-year state prison sentence, while her defense argues she is remorseful and hopes for leniency. Sentencing will be scheduled after a background investigation.

Cordenner faces a Sept. 2 trial on weapons and prowling charges.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Bucks County, Berks, and parts of Montgomery County beginning 2 p.m. Thursday, July 31, lasting into Friday morning.

The region could see 1–3 inches of rain, with localized totals of 5–7 inches and rainfall rates topping 2 inches per hour, creating the risk of flash flooding.

A flood watch means conditions are favorable for flooding but it is not yet imminent. Residents are urged to monitor weather updates, avoid flooded roads, and follow the “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” rule: even 6 inches of moving water can knock over an adult, and 1 foot can sweep away a car.

From Aug. 22–24, the @bucksmontbonzeroo 2025 music festival will feature nearly 60 free performances at 14 venues across seven towns in Bucks and Montgomery counties: Doylestown, Dublin, Hatfield, Lansdale, Quakertown, Sellersville, and Souderton.

The multi-genre, family- and pet-friendly event will showcase almost all genres, and more, alongside live painting, food and craft vendors, and daily kids’ activities. Organizers encourage festival-goers to visit multiple towns, explore local restaurants, and tip the volunteer musicians.

Founded in 2022 as the one-day Perkasie Porchfest, the festival has since expanded and rebranded—its new name inspired by the Australian slang term “bonzer” for “excellent.” Co-founders Corey and Heather Armideo say this is the first time the event spans two counties, with performers coming from the Philly region as well as NYC, Delaware, New Jersey, and Maryland.

The festival is primarily funded by sponsorships and a grant from @visitbuckspa, and organizers hope to keep it free while continuing to grow, potentially adding national acts in the future.

Full schedules and details are available on the BucksMont Bonzeroo website and Facebook page, with special hotel discounts for attendees.

A flood watch is in effect for the #phillysuburbs through Monday night, as forecasters warn of heavy rain and potential flooding. Storms are expected from 2pm Monday through 2am Tuesday, with 2-5 inches of rain possible in some areas.

The National Weather Service says excessive runoff could cause rivers, streams, and low-lying areas to flood. Southeastern Pennsylvania and parts of western #NewJersey are under a “moderate risk” — the second-highest rainfall alert level.

This is just the start of a wet week, with showers and storms expected daily through Friday. Tuesday brings another round of possible flash flooding, though not as severe as Monday’s threat.

7-Day Forecast Highlights:

Monday: Storms after 3 p.m., high near 88°F. Rain chance: 60%.

Tonight: Heavy storms continue into early morning, low near 74°F. Rain chance: 80%.

Tuesday: More storms likely, especially after 2 p.m., high near 87°F. Rain chance: 70%.

Wednesday–Friday: Daily afternoon storms possible. Highs near 89–92°F.

Aubrey and Gordon Ott, a couple from Abington Township, have been released on $100K unsecured bail while they appeal their convictions for using a waterboarding-style punishment on Aubrey’s 11-year-old daughter. The incident, which occurred in April 2024, involved Aubrey covering her daughter’s face with a rag and pouring water over it, allegedly on the advice of her husband, Gordon.

The couple was convicted in a non-jury trial in April, with Judge Steven T. O’Neill sentencing both to 6 - 23 months in jail, plus eight years of supervision. The judge allowed them to remain free pending appeal, but they must return to jail if their appeals are denied.

During the trial, the girl testified she was terrified and unable to breathe. Her younger sister corroborated the story, testifying she overheard Gordon say, “This is what we did in the war,” before Aubrey carried out the act. The couple allegedly disciplined the girl after accusing her of lying.

Aubrey denied using a torture technique, claiming she was only removing ink from the child’s face. Gordon did not testify.

Prosecutors argued the children’s accounts were credible and that the Otts acted in agreement. Defense attorneys maintain the evidence was insufficient and continue to push for a full appeal before the Pennsylvania Superior Court.l

What are your thoughts?

A former office manager at a Montgomery County health and wellness center has been sentenced to jail for stealing more than $1.2 million from her employer over seven years.

Jamie Eleanor Fox, 36, pleaded guilty to felony theft by deception and unlawful use of a computer after investigators found she siphoned off patient payments while working at Schwartz Total Wellness in Abington Township. She was sentenced to 6–23 months in county jail, followed by three years of probation, and ordered to pay $1.2 million in restitution at $800 per month — a debt that could take more than 30 years to repay.

Authorities said Fox used a hidden QuickBooks account to reroute more than 2,400 payments from roughly 600 patients into her personal bank accounts between 2017 and 2024. Detectives uncovered evidence she spent heavily on gambling, cash gifts, and luxury purchases, including a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Judge Thomas M. DelRicci rejected Fox’s request for house arrest, siding with prosecutors who argued her actions were deliberate and malicious, not a mistake. The business owner, who discovered the thefts while reviewing records, described the ordeal as deeply damaging to his small business and personally devastating.

Fox was fired in June 2024, and the scheme was uncovered after patients confirmed they had paid for services Fox had pocketed.

A Norristown man was arrested after allegedly trying to kidnap a 2-year-old girl from her mother’s arms in Upper Darby, claiming he thought the child was his daughter, police said.

Police charged 22-year-old Khrishon Parker with kidnapping, aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, terroristic threats, and other related offenses following the incident on the morning of October 15 near the 2nd Ward Playground.

According to police, the mother was walking with her daughter when Parker approached, insisted the child was his, and punched the woman while trying to pull the girl away. A neighbor who heard her screams ran outside, saw Parker struggling with the mother, and restrained him until officers arrived.

The witness told detectives he recognized the mother and child and knew Parker was not the girl’s father. The child’s shirt was torn during the struggle, but both mother and daughter were unharmed.

Parker was arrested at the scene and later arraigned, with bail set at $500,000. He remains in custody awaiting an October 30 preliminary hearing.

Upper Darby Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt praised the mother for trusting her instincts and the neighbor for intervening, calling the incident isolated and the neighbor’s actions “courageous.”

Fast-casual restaurant Dig Inn has opened its newest location at 76 Coulter Ave. in Ardmore’s Suburban Square, marking the first of two planned expansions into the Philadelphia suburbs. A second location will open in Jenkintown this September. Known for its seasonal, scratch-made comfort food and focus on locally sourced ingredients, Dig Inn celebrated its Ardmore launch with a community-focused food drive. Guests who donated canned or non-perishable goods to benefit the Ardmore Food Pantry received complimentary meals, while 100% of opening-day sales were also donated to the pantry. The first 100 customers received a tote bag and complimentary drink. CEO Tracy Kim said the openings highlight Dig Inn’s mission to nourish communities with real food while supporting local needs. The Ardmore spot will feature Dig Inn’s signature bowls, fresh vegetables, and sustainable proteins. - Visit TownsOf.com to join the waitlist for our local app. #mainlinepa #phillysuburbs #montco #montcopa #ardmorepa #mainline #townsofpennsylvania
What are your thoughts?

Villanova University officials confirmed Thursday that reports of an active shooter at the law school were a “cruel hoax.” Police received a 4:30 p.m. call claiming shots had been fired at Scarpa Hall with at least one victim, prompting lockdown alerts, building sweeps, and a major law enforcement response.

“Mercifully, no one was injured, and we now know there was no active shooter, no injuries, and no evidence of firearms present on campus,” said Villanova President Rev. Peter Donohue. The alert was later lifted, with the campus declared all clear.

The incident, which occurred during orientation mass, is being investigated by the Delaware County District Attorney and the FBI. Gov. Josh Shapiro condemned the act as illegal “swatting” and said state police will use every tool to find those responsible.

Police reiterated that hoax shooter threats are a crime. “This is a serious issue,” said Radnor Township Police Superintendent Christopher Flanagan. “It is wrong, and we are taking care of that.”
