FIFA’s Legacy patch marks five or more World Cups. 🏆

At the 2026 men’s World Cup, FIFA added sleeve patches for individual milestones. The Legacy patch is reserved for players at a fifth tournament or beyond, which is why Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo wear it at their sixth World Cups.

FIFA also introduced Debut, Golden Boot, Golden Ball and Golden Glove patches for first-timers and past award winners. The badges make career milestones visible during the first 48-team men’s World Cup, hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The World Cup somehow keeps finding new ways to raise the stakes 😭

Every tournament has a few potential matchups that instantly capture everyone’s attention, and a possible United States versus Iran knockout game would definitely be one of them. Even before a ball is kicked, fans are already imagining the atmosphere, the headlines, and the level of tension that would come with a winner take all World Cup match.

That’s part of what makes the World Cup different from every other sporting event. Teams spend years trying to qualify, millions of people become emotionally invested overnight, and suddenly one game feels bigger than just soccer. Of course, the internet immediately skipped past the football discussion entirely and started joking about what exactly should be awarded to the winner.

Mbappé says scorelines shape players’ view of hydration breaks. 💧⚽

Ahead of France’s World Cup group match against Iraq on June 22, Kylian Mbappé said players are “very reactionary” and will judge a mid-game stoppage differently depending on whether it breaks their rhythm or offers relief in the heat.

FIFA introduced mandatory three-minute hydration breaks midway through each half at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The rule was meant to protect players in summer conditions, but it has already triggered debate over momentum, tactics and how much the stoppages change the flow of matches.

Family Guy is an American animated sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane. The show follows the lives of the Griffin family, who live in the fictional town of Quahog, Rhode Island. The family includes Peter, the clumsy and often irresponsible father; Lois, the caring mother; their children Meg, Chris, and Stewie; and Brian, the family’s intelligent talking dog. Since its debut in 1999, the series has become known for its unique humor, pop culture references, and cutaway gags.

The show has gained a large fan base because of its bold comedy and memorable characters. *Family Guy* often satirizes politics, celebrities, and everyday life, making it both entertaining and controversial at times. Over the years, it has won several awards and has remained one of the most popular animated television series in the United States. Qatar 2022 World Cup cost more than you think. ⚽️🏟

Qatar’s tournament sits far above the other World Cups in this ranking, with Brazil 2014 at $15 billion, the 2026 tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico at $13.9 billion, and Russia 2018 at $11.6 billion.

The rest of the table places Japan and South Korea 2002 at $7 billion, Italy 1990 at $4.4 billion, Germany 2006 at $4.3 billion, and South Africa 2010 at $3.6 billion. The spread shows how sharply World Cup costs can rise when host nations pair FIFA operations with major infrastructure spending.

Comment ‘watch’ below and we will send you this full episode.

I've been waiting 10 years to ask someone these questions, and today I finally get to do that.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been fascinated by American politics. Back then, I used to watch the elections, every interview and all the debates from my bedroom, trying to figure out why a system thousands of miles away felt so consequential to my life.

So when I was given the chance to have a sit-down conversation with Vice President Of The United States JD Vance, I knew I didn’t just want to ask him about headlines.

I wanted to understand the person behind the headlines.

At the start of the conversation, I said to him: “To understand the people that are sitting in front of me, you have to get a picture of their early context.”

And the reality is, I didn't truly know his context…

What I really wanted to find out by speaking with VP is: How much of what people think they know about @vp Vance is ACTUALLY true?

Long before he entered the White House, VP grew up in a home shaped by addiction, poverty, instability, and a revolving door of father figures.

I went into this conversation wanting to understand how a kid raised in addiction and instability became the Vice President of the United States. And then get to the bottom of what he really thinks about everything happening in the world right now with no questions left unsaid.

We spoke about:

The childhood instability that shaped the way he sees people.
The conversation that changed his view of Donald Trump.
His return to Christianity after years as an atheist.
Whether he wants to be President one day.
The immigration debate that is dividing America.
Why doesn't he trust the UK Government?
Whether he thinks aliens exist…
When will a proposed ceasefire deal with Iran happen?
Navigating one of the most demanding jobs on earth while raising a young family.

Regardless of where you stand politically, this conversation goes deeper than politics.

And as a podcaster, having these conversations is important, as it goes beyond the headlines and shows you how the people in power actually think.

Team USA needs to walk out to Enter Sandman 🇺🇸

After punching their ticket to the knockout stage with a 2-0 win over Australia, Team USA celebrated by singing “Take Me Home, Country Roads” with the fans in the crowd.

The moment sparked a conversation online about whether Team USA needs its own tradition, hype song, or rallying cry before matches.

One popular vote?

Enter Sandman, mirroring Virginia Tech Football’s signature pre-game tradition.

Few traditions in sports can match what happens in Blacksburg when Metallica starts playing and Lane Stadium begins shaking.

The song has become synonymous with energy, confidence, and one of the most intimidating entrances in all of sports.

It also fits this Team USA squad perfectly.

This isn’t the passive American team that soccer fans grew up watching.

This group has attacked opponents, played aggressively, and secured a spot in the knockout stage after just two matches.

The U.S. hasn’t won Group D just yet, but the victory means they need only a draw in Thursday’s match with Türkiye to make sure of topping group D and sending themselves to Santa Clara for a favorable round-of-32 match against a third-place team.

The win also marked the first time the American men have won back-to-back World Cup matches.

Imagine Team USA walking onto the pitch with Enter Sandman blasting through the stadium before a knockout-round match.

Would Enter Sandman be the perfect hype song for Team USA? 🤔

It is often said that soccer is more than a game. That truth was evident as I joined residents at the Bruckner Boulevard shelter in the Bronx to watch Senegal take on France in the World Cup.

In the United States, the culture of soccer has long been carried by immigrants — people who have brought their clubs, traditions, and love of the game with them from around the world. Many of the residents at Bruckner know what it means to leave one home behind while seeking refuge in another, and the immense challenges that journey can bring.

For just a few hours, the match offered something more than entertainment. It offered humanity, reprieve, and a momentary break from hardship. Most importantly, it offered community. For so many people around the world, that is what makes soccer the beautiful game.

The United States Men’s National Team secured a place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 knockout stage following a 2-0 victory over Australia on June 19, 2026. Playing at Lumen Field in Seattle, the co-hosts moved to six points in Group D, mathematically guaranteeing a top-two finish and advancement to the Round of 32 with one group match remaining. 🇺🇸🇺🇸

The win follows an opening 4-1 triumph over Paraguay, marking the first time since 1930 that the U.S. has recorded consecutive victories in a single World Cup tournament. Despite the absence of captain Christian Pulisic, who was ruled out due to a left calf injury, the American side maintained defensive pressure to earn their first World Cup clean sheet in decades. Australia, which entered the match with three points after defeating Turkey, remains in contention for advancement as they prepare for their final group fixture.

The U.S. will conclude the group stage against Turkey on June 25 in Los Angeles to determine final seeding for the expanded 48-team knockout bracket.

The U.S. Department of Justice is asking a judge to stop Evanston, Illinois’ reparations program, which provides eligible Black residents with $25,000 to address the effects of past housing discrimination.
_____________________________________
Launched in 2021, the program is considered the first reparations initiative of its kind in the United States. It was created for Black residents, and their descendants, who lived in Evanston between 1919 and 1969 and were impacted by discriminatory housing policies.
_____________________________________
According to the city, more than $7 million has already been distributed through the program, funded by tax revenue from legal marijuana sales.
_____________________________________
The Justice Department argues the program is unconstitutional, claiming it violates the Equal Protection Clause by providing benefits based on race. The filing joins an existing lawsuit challenging the program.
_____________________________________
The challenge comes as several states and cities across the country have launched commissions or task forces to study reparations, though none have distributed funds on the same scale as Evanston.
_____________________________________
The lawsuit, originally filed in September 2024 as a class-action civil rights case, was brought by six plaintiffs who do not identify as Black or African American. A central argument in the case, Flinn v. City of Evanston, is that the city does not require Black applicants to prove they personally experienced housing discrimination in order to qualify for benefits. (📸: @gettyimages) ✍🏾: #TSRStaffLG

Mauricio Pochettino has made history in his first World Cup as USMNT manager, becoming the first coach to win back-to-back World Cup matches for the United States in 96 years. The Americans opened with a stunning 4-1 demolition of Paraguay at SoFi Stadium, their highest-scoring World Cup game ever, then followed it with a controlled 2-0 win over a defensive Australia in Seattle on June 19.

The last time the US won consecutive World Cup matches was 1930, at the very first World Cup, when coach Robert Millar's side beat Belgium and Paraguay to reach the semifinals before losing to Argentina. No American manager had managed it since, across nearly a century and 11 tournaments. Pochettino, hired in 2024 to lead the home World Cup, is now also tied for the most World Cup wins of any USMNT coach in just two games.

The two victories came in completely different ways: a free-flowing attacking blitz against Paraguay, then a patient, tactical dismantling of Australia's five-man backline, with Alex Freeman heading home a key goal. The wins clinched Group D with a match to spare, the quickest the US has ever advanced. They close the group stage against Türkiye on June 25.

Team USA needs to bring the Tomahawk Chop 🇺🇸

After punching their ticket to the knockout stage with a 2-0 win over Australia, Team USA celebrated by singing “Take Me Home, Country Roads” with the fans in the crowd.

The moment sparked a conversation online about whether Team USA needs its own tradition, hype song, or rallying cry before matches.

One popular vote?

The Tomahawk Chop, mirroring Florida State Football’s signature game-day tradition.

Few traditions in sports can match what happens in Tallahassee when 80,000 fans begin the Chop in unison inside Doak Campbell Stadium.

The chant has become synonymous with energy, confidence, and one of the most intimidating atmospheres in all of college football.

It also fits this Team USA squad perfectly.

This isn’t the passive American team that soccer fans grew up watching.

This group has attacked opponents, played aggressively, and secured a spot in the knockout stage after just two matches.

The U.S. clinched Group D, and the victory means they need only a draw in Thursday’s match with Türkiye to make sure of topping the group and sending themselves to Santa Clara for a favorable round-of-32 match against a third-place team.

The win also marked the first time the American men have won back-to-back World Cup matches since 1930.

Imagine Team USA walking onto the pitch while tens of thousands of American fans perform the Tomahawk Chop before a knockout-round match.

That would be electric.

Would the Tomahawk Chop be the perfect tradition for Team USA? 🤔

A new number. A new chapter.

Twenty years ago, Kobe Bryant made a surprising decision to leave No. 8 behind and begin a new era in No. 24. It wasn't just a jersey change. It became the start of some of the most defining years of his career.

Now, Devin Booker is doing something similar.

According to ESPN, Booker will switch from No. 1 to No. 15 next season, ending an 11-year run with the number that became synonymous with his rise in Phoenix.

The Finals run.

The 70-point game.

The All-Star appearances.

That entire chapter was written in No. 1.

But No. 15 isn't a random choice.

It's the number Booker wears with Team USA, and it's also the same number his father, Melvin Booker, wore during his college career.

For Booker, this feels less like a rebrand and more like a reset.

A new chapter rooted in both family and identity.

The Kobe comparison isn't about accomplishments. It's about timing.

Both stars made the switch after establishing themselves.

Both reached a point in their careers where a new number represented what comes next, not what came before.

The question now is simple: When it's all said and done, will Devin Booker be remembered more for No. 1 or No. 15?

I've been waiting 10 years to ask someone these questions, and today I finally get to do that. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been fascinated by American politics. Back then, I used to watch the elections, every interview and all the debates from my bedroom, trying to figure out why a system thousands of miles away felt so consequential to my life. So when I was given the chance to have a sit-down conversation with Vice President Of The United States JD Vance, I knew I didn’t just want to ask him about headlines. I wanted to understand the person behind the headlines. At the start of the conversation, I said to him: “To understand the people that are sitting in front of me, you have to get a picture of their early context.” And the reality is, I didn't truly know his context… What I really wanted to find out by speaking with VP is: How much of what people think they know about VP Vance is ACTUALLY true? Long before he entered the White House, VP grew up in a home shaped by addiction, poverty, instability, and a revolving door of father figures. I went into this conversation wanting to understand how a kid raised in addiction and instability became the Vice President of the United States. And then get to the bottom of what he really thinks about everything happening in the world right now with no questions left unsaid. We spoke about: - The childhood instability that shaped the way he sees people. - The conversation that changed his view of Donald Trump. - His return to Christianity after years as an atheist. - Whether he wants to be President one day. - The immigration debate that is dividing America. - Why doesn't he trust the UK Government? - Whether he thinks aliens exist… - When will a proposed ceasefire deal with Iran happen? - Navigating one of the most demanding jobs on earth while raising a young family. One of the things that I've come to learn is just try and meet everybody as I experience them. Regardless of where you stand politically, this conversation goes deeper than politics. And as a podcaster, having these conversations is important, as it goes beyond the headlines and shows you how the people in power actually think. Watch our full conversation now on YouTube, Spotify or Apple Podcasts. Search "The Diary Of A CEO JD Vance". #america #news #breakingnews #jdvance #thediaryofaceo

A missed flight helped change the future of U.S. Soccer.

Folarin Balogun was born in Brooklyn after his pregnant mother was reportedly told she couldn’t board a flight back to London.

He moved to England as a baby, grew up in London, joined Arsenal’s academy at eight years old, and played for England’s youth national teams.

He could have represented England. He could have represented Nigeria.

But because of that Brooklyn birth, he was also eligible for the United States.
In 2023, FIFA approved his one-time switch to the USMNT.

Now, Balogun’s story is bigger than soccer.

It’s about immigration, identity, recruiting, and how one accidental moment can reshape a national team.

With some Philly bars now allowed to stay open until 4 a.m. during the World Cup, we wanted to find out what an entire day (and night) of soccer fandom actually looks like.
What we got was a front-row seat to every phase of a Philly watch party: the early arrivals, the die-hards, the late-night crowd, and a Team USA performance that kept everyone buzzing.

Here’s what happened when reporters from The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Wall Street Journal settled in for the long haul. ⚽🍻
