Centrally located between our four cities, Robin Roberts stadium in Springfield, Illinois, will host the first season of the Women’s Pro Baseball League. Following a series of barnstorming games, the season will begin in August of 2026, with the league having exclusive use of the stadium for the duration of the season. Springfield is the birthplace of women’s pro baseball, with the first-ever pro women’s teams being formed there in 1875: the Blondes and the Brunettes. By selecting Springfield to host our first season, we’ll be taking women’s pro baseball back to where it began, giving Midwesterners and fans from across the country the opportunity to witness the best women in baseball going head-to-head for the first time since the Midwest-based All American Girls Baseball League played its final game.

The accolades have just continued from there. Raine earned a spot on the Canadian National Team in 2023 and became the first woman to play on Thompson Rivers University’s men’s baseball team that same year. Get ready to witness her power on the mound when the WPBL’s inaugural season begins in 2026.
