Canada NEEDS to shoot the puck more. Trying to be too cute when they have space. That being said, credit to Latvia, they were VERY well coached. Missed calls on both sides by the refs, though. #worldjuniors #hockey

After playing in Italy with Bolzano, Jaromir Jagr’s European run during the lockout made one more stop in Germany. In January 1995, just before the NHL lockout ended, he joined his friends Petr Fiala and Vladimir Kames for a single game with the third division Schalke Sharks. The team expected to shell out thousands to host a superstar like Jagr, but he stunned them by saying he didn’t want a dime, just a meal, a drink, and a place to crash. Jagr scored once and assisted on ten more goals as Schalke crushed Herner EV 20 to 3. Afterward, he celebrated with schnitzel and beer, slept on a buddy’s couch, and headed home to Kladno. #hockey #nhl
