We all say we want to help people…but the truth is, you can’t help anyone who isn’t ready to change.

There’s a difference between someone who comes to you because they’ve hit rock bottom and genuinely want guidance and someone who simply needs space to vent, feel, or sit in their emotions.

For years, I rushed in with solutions.
A-B-C-D.
Fix this. Do that. Change now.
And instead of helping, it made people feel misunderstood or even disrupted in their pain.

Some people aren’t ready to move forward yet and that’s okay. Your job isn’t to force their healing.
It’s to hold space, to support, and to step back when needed.

Everyone is on their own timeline.
And the less you pressure them, the more they feel safe to come to you when they are ready.

Comment MILLIE and I’ll send you my latest podcast with @milliemackintosh for a raw, honest conversation about sobriety, motherhood, and rebuilding your identity during one of the biggest transitions a woman can go through.

We talk about what happens when you start questioning your relationship with alcohol, especially in a culture that normalises “mummy needs wine.” Millie opens up about anxiety, panic attacks, and how drinking became intertwined with coping. But more than that, we explore how becoming a mother forces you to confront yourself in ways nothing else does.

Motherhood doesn’t just change your routine, it changes your identity. Your priorities. Your tolerance. Your triggers. And sometimes, it shines a light on habits that no longer align with the parent or person you want to be.

This is a deeply emotional conversation about:
• The sober curious movement
• Anxiety and coping mechanisms
• The invisible pressure on mothers to hold it all together
• The identity shift that comes with raising children
• Choosing presence over numbing

There is this unspoken expectation that NHS doctors should constantly self-sacrifice.

Skip lunch breaks.
Work through exhaustion.
Put everyone else first.
Never complain.

And if you struggle, reduce your hours or think about leaving, suddenly people question your commitment.

But what people don’t see is how many healthcare workers are silently burning out whilst trying to carry the emotional weight of everyone around them.

So many people become doctors because they genuinely want to help others.

And somewhere along the way, they forget they’re allowed to help themselves too.

For some people, saying their last name isn’t a neutral question.

It’s a moment loaded with fear, history, and the risk of being judged before being seen. In this conversation, we speak about why Neeraj chose not to say his full name in Homebound and how, in India, a surname can instantly expose caste, class, and a 2,000-year-old system of hierarchy.

That pause.
That hesitation.
That urge to disappear when someone asks, “What’s your last name?”

It doesn’t come from insecurity.
It comes from being conditioned to believe your identity makes you inferior
From being taught, explicitly or quietly, that your name carries shame.

This episode is a reminder that identity isn’t always something people feel safe to claim.

Why did Shoaib stand up, when everything in his life had taught him to stay quiet?

This moment in Homebound captures something so many people inherit without realising it:
the belief that gratitude means silence.
That dignity is something you sacrifice to survive.

Standing up for himself came with real consequences but in that moment, he chose integrity.
He chose dignity.
He chose to reclaim his power, even knowing what it would cost him.

Because Homebound isn’t just a story about work or migration or survival. It’s about the quiet, painful struggle to protect your dignity in a world that constantly asks you to trade it.

And as Ishaan says so beautifully:
“Your identity is what you create for yourself, not what you’re born with.”

Do you freeze your bread?! 😮
I’ve had to unlearn this and it’s been difficult, painful, and uncomfortable at times.
But one truth I keep coming back to is this:

People will judge you for 2 minutes.
But you’re the one who lives with the consequences for the rest of your life.

There’s so much pressure to settle down by a certain age.
To hit invisible milestones just to make others feel comfortable.
At 25, I was told if I didn’t find someone soon, I never would.

This summer, I’m getting married at 32 and I’m so grateful I waited.
Because if I hadn’t, I would have settled. And I would’ve paid the price daily.

Let people judge.
Their opinions are fleeting.
Your peace is forever 💛
