Carson Towt, the Indianapolis Colts’ new tight end, has never played football.

Indianapolis signed a 24-year-old, 6’8”, 250-pound forward with plans to turn him into an NFL tight end.

Because Towt never used any football eligibility in college, he was able to bypass the NFL Draft and sign directly as a free agent.

On the basketball court, Towt was a rebounding machine.

He led the nation in total rebounds and rebounds per game during the 2024-25 season.

Translation: Elite instincts tracking the ball in the air.

So the Colts are basically saying: “If you can grab rebounds in traffic, you can catch passes over the middle.”

This isn’t new; we’ve seen this movie before: Antonio Gates

It’s clear the Colts see potential in Towt.

Ohio State is the best wide receiver factory in college football history and it’s not even close 😳

In a single spring practice room in 2021, Ohio State had Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, Jameson Williams, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Marvin Harrison Jr., and Emeka Egbuka. All six of them were first-round NFL Draft picks. That has never happened from one position room at one school in the history of college football. Beyond that group, Terry McLaurin, Michael Thomas, Curtis Samuel, and Ted Ginn Jr. all came out of Columbus and had real NFL careers. Michael Thomas set the all-time NFL single-season reception record. Garrett Wilson won Offensive Rookie of the Year. Marvin Harrison Jr. went fourth overall in 2024. Jaxon Smith-Njigba won Offensive Player of the Year in the NFL.

Now Carnell Tate and Jeremiah Smith are next in line. Ohio State wide receivers do not stop coming, and they do not stop producing when they get to the league. That is what WRU actually means.
