Give it a light whisk and pour straight into a little frying pan. Lightly cook both sides and make sure your oven is turned on. On the upside, whether you crack it or not, you still get to eat it 😂 This recipe is special to me, and I loved every minute of making it. It’s my mum’s Easter Bread recipe, I hope you enjoy it too! Ingredients: 1kg plain flour 2 eggs 1 egg yolk 125g melted butter 150g sugar 1tsp vanilla extract 500ml warm milk 7g of instant dried yeast 1tbsp sugar (for mixture) Zest of one orange Method: 1. Activate the yeast: In a bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and 1tbsp of sugar. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes until it becomes foamy. 2. Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, whisk eggs, melted butter, vanilla, lemon/orange zest, salt, and the remaining sugar. Add the activated yeast mixture. 3. Knead: Gradually add flour and knead for about 10-15 minutes until the dough is soft and elastic. You may need slightly more or less flour. 4. Let it rise: Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1.5-2 hours, or until doubled in size. 5. Shape the bread: Divide the dough into three equal parts and braid them. Place the braided loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. 6. Second rise: Cover and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes. 7. Brush and bake: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush the bread with a beaten egg yolk and sprinkle sesame seeds or sugar on top. 8. Bake: Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean. 9. Thinking outside the circle with this recipe. Check out how I used the @sunbeam_anz Pie Maker to create delicious Upside Down Pineapple cakes. The easy to clean surface is a real winner for me as there’s nothing worse than scrubbing muffin trays. Super quick cooking time makes this recipe super efficient and not having to wait for the oven to pre heat is a bonus. Ingredients: 100 grams butter 1 egg 50 grams brown sugar 100 grams white sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 150 grams self raising flour 100 grams natural yoghurt 3-4 Pineapple rings Spread 20 g of the butter among the bases of the Pie Maker. Combine the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl, then sprinkle the mixture over the butter and pop a pineapple ring on top so it sits nice and snug. Place the remaining butter and the sugar in the bowl and mix until nice and fluffy. Add the egg, vanilla and three-quarters of the flour and mix again for 30 seconds. Add the yoghurt and the remaining flour and mix for 1 minute. Spoon the cake batter into the Pie Maker and cook for approx 15 minutes.
