 Massive thanks to @lucapadua for teaching me underwater training and big wave mindset. The tools for surfing… and for life. I’m learning, I’m humbled, and I’m fired up. Luca is @heartandsoilsupplements athlete and a professional big wave surfer. He is known as the youngest surfer ever to paddle into waves at Mavericks at just 13 years old. He’s now one of the top names in big wave surfing, training alongside legends like Laird Hamilton and pushing the limits in some of the world’s most dangerous surf. Appreciate you, brother! Also, big gratitude towards @lairdhamilton and @gabbyreece for welcoming me into your home and sharing your wisdom. Legends. You live it, you breathe it. POV: Too deep at one of the heaviest waves in the world. When you fade too deep here, the margin disappears fast. Boils, backwash, and raw power all stacked on top of each other. Violent. Cold. Unforgiving. Feels like home because it demands full respect, every time.

Last week I rode some of the heaviest waves of my life. Without a doubt in the top three most intense sessions I’ve ever been part of. The ocean was alive. Moving, breathing, biting. Giant barrels. Comically violent beatings. Everything I’ve ever dreamed of. Freezing cold. Rugged. Shallow. Sharp. Mullaghmore is not for the faint of heart. There’s a lot to unpack from this trip, and I’ll share more over the next few days. Right now I’m just feeling deeply grateful to have been out there for a swell of that magnitude. Respect to the local Irish crew who charge and truly hold down their home. Thank you for sharing with the Americans. @mr__mantis appreciate you dialing us in. Team @biggerthanwaves continues to fly the flag. Thank you @aloslebir and @sebastiansurfs for the waves and the laughs. Back to the bathymetry maps and the whiteboard to plot the next adventure.
