I genuinely believe that was the hand of God protecting me from myself. That experience scared the absolute shit out of me. But it also changed me. I realized I couldn’t keep living like a loser and expecting my life to turn into something meaningful. I had to become a completely different person. Looking back at 46 years old, as a husband, father and CEO, I realize how close I came to throwing everything away. Sometimes God doesn’t give you another chance because you deserve it. He gives you another chance because He knows who you can become. That was my wake-up call. And I never forgot it.
