LSU interim coach Frank Wilson III asked why the program and this opportunity means so much: "I was a head coach at another university in this state. I left that university as the head coach to come back here, right? And I chose to, I chose to come back here because it's a very, very unique place that there's no place like LSU. "I've worked at universities in this conference around this country, and there's something about the people here. And so when you speak of LSU, you can talk about the beautiful stadium — the pantheon, the concrete. This beautiful facility that we're in. "But LSU's not bricks and mortar. It's the people. It's the people that make LSU what it is. And we live and we thrive in a people society that as we evoke into relationships, it cuts deep. And so it's totally different than another school where you just go to work. "You become a part of it. It becomes a part of you. And it's the people in this building, it's the people in this community, it's the people in this state that gravitates, that pulls you in. And it's why we say, 'Forever LSU,' because it's not just a job — for me, for many."
National headline timeline on the LSU coaching situation… Sunday — Credit to LSU for being proactive & not settling for mediocrity Monday - Tuesday AM — Unquestionably the best job opening Tuesday PM — Great message from Frank Wilson; he gets it, and it really underscores what BK was missing Wednesday — This governor is a clown, this situation is a circus, why would anyone go into this?

Brian Kelly says he thinks OC Joe Sloan is being a great coach in doing what he's asked to do as part of overall team success. BK says he thinks LSU has a top-10 defense in the country and wants to play to that and that there have been times he's pulling back some on what Sloan may want to do.
Governor Jeff Landry asked whether he worries that his outspokenness might negatively affect LSU's ability to lure its next coach. "Absolutely not. Absolutely not. In fact, I think it's more responsible. Because, again, we all have recognized and you just discussed it, how we thought the contract that we got into was irresponsible. And the question becomes is, like, do we need $100 million to lure a coach? I don't know did they pay the guy (Clark Lea) at Vanderbilt who's whipping us $100 million? Like, I mean, there's great coaches out there."
New LSU coach Lane Kiffin's quote on recruiting Louisiana and the football culture in the state. (@LAvsAllYall) "The high schools here. It's been great going to them and receiving the feedback. I've always enjoyed over time coming here and recruiting. "Just the people. I used to always say: They love football. And everybody says they love football. But the high school coaches here, they love football. They love coaching football. They love coaching the kids. They genuinely care about the kids. Some of that's kind of gotten lost a little bit (in modern sports). So, it's awesome. "I'd love to sign a lot of Louisiana kids. They were on me this week about that and about finding guys that are not just on these lists that people put out and all these things and all the stars, but to go find — because I know over time there's always been great players here that aren't highly recruited. "And a lot of that is because they're really good players, but it's because of their makeup and how they're coached and the way they want to work and they just want to get better. They'll work out as long as they can. So it's been awesome."
"We're LSU. My phone is still ringing," Verge Ausberry says. "A lot of people, candidates still want to come to LSU." "It's one of the best jobs in the country. It is the best job in the country at this time. And we're gonna find the right person, and I don't see any problems getting the right person to be the coach at LSU."
