Braxton Miller: The Human Joystick

Before the era of CJ Stroud and Justin Fields, there was Braxton Miller. From 2011 to 2013, he was the most dangerous man in college football, a quarterback who could freeze an entire secondary with a single look and then outrun the linebackers for a 60-yard score. Braxton wasn't just a signal-caller; he was a cultural phenomenon in Columbus, winning back-to-back Big Ten MVP awards and leading the Buckeyes to a perfect 12–0 season in 2012.

But his legacy reached "immortal" status in 2015. After a shoulder injury forced him to miss the 2014 championship run and surrender the QB job, Miller didn't quit—he switched to wide receiver. In his very first game back against Virginia Tech, he delivered "The Spin Move"—a 53-yard touchdown run where he hit a 360-degree rotation at full speed that left two defenders tackling thin air. Inducted into the Ohio State Hall of Fame in 2024, Miller remains the gold standard for "unselfish greatness" in the Scarlet and Gray.

In 2008, Texas Tech’s football program ran into a surprise problem — they needed a kicker, immediately. Instead of only searching the roster, coaches started paying attention to the stands after spotting a student casually drilling long kicks during a halftime contest.

🏈 Malcolm Jenkins - the 2008 Thorpe Award winner as best defensive back in college football, Jenkins helped Ohio State to four straight B1G titles and back-to-back berths in the national championship game. He completed his 11th season in the NFL with Philadelphia, winning his second Super Bowl ring in 2017 (2009 as a Saint). Off the field, he makes his impact running the Malcolm Jenkins Foundation, which is committed to youth development in under-served communities.

🏈 Chris Ward - a three-year starter at left tackle from 1975–77, was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2024. Ward a two-time first-team All-American, earning consensus recognition in 1976 and unanimous recognition in 1977, and a team captain for the 1977 Buckeyes. He would go on to be selected as the No. 4 overall pick in the 1978 NFL draft by the New York Jets and play professionally for seven seasons.
