We took over a gas station in Japan! 🤭⛽️ If you’ve ever come across a cute little ENEOS station on your feed, then you’ve already had the pleasure of meeting @gs.miatas and his wife @gs.minnie. Who They Are 🏡 Opened nearly 60 years ago by Issei-san’s grandfather, this family-run gas station found new life when Issei and his wife picked up a camera and began documenting daily life. How They Blew Up 💥 The power couple built a global following through their series “POV: You stopped at a gas station in Japan,” giving us a look at JDM car culture while also teaching us gaijins some “Japanglish” translations. Where It’s Located 📍 ENEOS Senriyama SS is in Suita City, about 45 mins north of central Osaka. It’s a tiny station tucked inside a quiet neighborhood. I personally dig its clean aesthetic with ceiling-mounted hoses and also the old school uniforms! Let’s Go Osaka 💡 @jdmwong came up with the idea to collaborate with them on an @eneosusa video featuring the @exceed_jpn EK4 and @stickydiljoe EG6 Civics. Tokyo Lobby on Las Tunas Drive in San Gabriel closed its doors in March 2013 after nearly 40 years of serving generations of SGVers—often referred to as the original “teriyaki baby” spot. The faded storefront wasn’t fancy, but stepping inside felt like walking into a time capsule of SGV nostalgia. Why it mattered: The crisp little dish of shredded tsukemono cabbage they served free before meals was iconic—just salt, seaweed, and crunchy brightness. It’s still the benchmark locals crave. Giant fake-boat sushi platters, hearty beef teriyaki lunches, tempura combos: massive portions at family-friendly prices, perfect for shared meals with grandparents, kids, and friends. The cozy, red-vinyl-booth décor and vintage ’60s–’70s wall art created a vibe that felt both retro and right at home. Tokyo Lobby brought together parents and kids, high-schoolers up late on school nights, and grandparents introducing toddlers to curry rice. When it closed, rent hikes, parking issues, and increased competition spelled the end—but the community turned out in droves to say goodbye. My first JCCS is done but it took a couple years to get here. Had plans to show it in 2023 but an unforeseen clutch cable issue prevented me from making it. Got some upgrades done for the redo, plus much needed help from generous friends: • Redid the Super Mesh with 15x6.5 +21 barrels from @charlieworld, reassembled the barrels in record time with @momoxcosmo • Fujitsubo header, matched with hex bolts inspired by @jharadon • Header and upgraded Tein coilovers installed, tires mounted on both sets of SSRs, loads of general maintenance by a very patient @meng.tea • Four wheel alignment by @monrovia_alignment The clutch cable issue reappeared at JCCS but currently testing a tweak by @matthew85_ to see if it finally resolves the issue. Discovered a couple other problems on the way home that also need to be fixed. Gotta thank everyone who helped out and made sure I got back safely, y’all are mad appreciated! #honda #hondacivic #jdm

Every time I think back to the 90s, I’m pulled straight to the corner of Valley and New Avenue—where JR Café used to stand, late-night hours glowing long after other spots had dimmed. It wasn’t just a place to grab iced coffee or iced lemonade—it was our clubhouse. You’d sink into those vinyl seats, sip a sweet drink, chain-smoke, laugh into the night, and meet up with every engine-head, every club kid, every agent of the scene. The parking lot turned into our weekend car show—rows of tuned imports lined up, engines humming, headlights gleaming, the heart of the SGV car scene. My second set of unicorn wheels have finally been acquired: SSR Super Mesh to complement my Super Fins. I had a set of 15s about 20 years ago but let them go to get something else, never thinking they’d be this hard to get again later. These are using 16x6.5” barrels that came with non-locking center caps but swapped them with the correct spares I had stored away. I’m considering resizing them to 15s with a more aggressive offset to switch things up. Really stoked to have a set in my collection again!

Finally, a chance to catch up on our Hong Kong/Phuket trip — grateful to spend quality time with my Mom, LA fam, and HK relatives we don’t see often. Finally, a chance to catch up on our Hong Kong/Phuket trip — grateful to spend quality time with my Mom, LA fam, and HK relatives we don’t see often. Honored to join my cousin @karenkyfung for her wedding festivities, and @_____lolo_____ and I tried as many restaurants as we possibly could! We all had that one dream car in high school—the one we swore we’d own someday. What was yours? For me, it was the R32 GTR in gunmetal gray. Fast forward to 2023, and after more than 20 years of waiting, I finally made it happen. Watching it roll off the shipping truck and into my garage was easily one of the happiest days of my life. For JDM Wong, that dream started with an EF Civic back in high school. He never got the chance to build it the way he wanted back then, but years later the opportunity came full circle.
