Alyssa Thomas has been suspended for only ONE GAME after a dangerous foul on Caitlin Clark.
It took the WNBA 18 hours to issue the suspension after the play occurred.
Clark's coach called the incident "absolutely unacceptable": "We have a generational talent and a WNBA superstar who had two cheap shots right there that weren't called."
The play occurred with 6:52 remaining in the second quarter. Clark drove toward the basket and went to the floor as multiple players fought for the ball. During the scramble, Thomas appeared to drive her fist into Clark's neck and throat area.
The coach also criticized a separate play where Clark landed awkwardly after being fouled by Valeriane Ayayi on a 3-point attempt.
