Twenty years after the original became a cultural phenomenon, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci are back on the big screen today as Miranda, Andy, Emily and Nigel. Despite its success, both Streep and Hathaway were initially hesitant about ever making a sequel, and for nearly two decades it looked like it would never happen.
Development finally began in July 2024, with the sequel’s trailer breaking records with over 222 million views in its first 24 hours, making it the most viewed trailer in 20th Century Studios history.
