San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle’s season came to an unfortunate end on Sunday during the NFC Wild Card round as he suffered from a torn Achilles in the Niners’ win over the Eagles. 😬
During the first half of the Wild Card game between the 49ers and Eagles, with about six minutes left in the second quarter, Pro Bowl tight end George Kittle made a 6-yard catch in the right flat and made a turn upfield. 🏈
As he did, Kittle’s right leg gave out as Philly linebacker Zack Baun brought him down with a tackle, with the injury immediately determined to be a torn Achilles.
Even more cruel for Kittle is the fact that the 6-yard reception was his only catch in the game. 🤦♂️
His response? Get drunk. Kittle had the team’s owner Jed York send him a bottle of Patron tequila after he tore his Achilles. 😂
Despite losing their star tight end to a torn Achilles, the San Francisco 49ers were able to beat the Philadelphia Eagles on the road by a score of 23-19 to advance to the NFC Divisional Round, where they’ll face off against the #1 seed Seattle Seahawks. 👍
Drafted out of the University of Iowa in the 5th round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the 32-year-old Kittle is a 7-time Pro Bowler and two-time First-team All Pro member.
As for the Eagles, the loss to the San Francisco 49ers — and the general mood surrounding the team throughout the course of the 2025 season — means head coach Nick Sirianni could be in the hot seat despite leading the team to a Super Bowl title just last year. 🤔
