ABC officially ordered a new Grey’s Anatomy spinoff set in West Texas, expanding the TV universe more than 20 years after the original series first premiered.
According to ABC, the new drama will follow a team working at a rural medical center that serves as “the last chance for care before miles of nowhere.” Grey’s creator Shonda Rhimes is returning as co-creator alongside current showrunner Meg Marinis, while Ellen Pompeo will also stay involved as an executive producer.
What’s still unclear: whether Meredith Grey or other familiar faces will actually appear.
The series becomes the fourth Grey’s spinoff after Private Practice, Station 19, and Grey’s Anatomy: B-Team.
