The Overlooked Artist Behind Euphoria’s Visual World
Petra Collins is a multifaceted artist and director prominent since the early 2010s, known for her feminine, ethereal photography often employing a female gaze perspective. She has worked with artists such as Tyler, The Creator, Frank Ocean, Olivia Rodrigo, Lil Yachty, & more.
In 2018, Euphoria creator Sam Levinson told Collins’ agency he wrote a show “based on her photos” and wanted her to direct. Petra moved to LA to develop Season 1’s world but was ultimately dismissed by the network for being “too young.”
A year later, Collins saw the aesthetic she had cultivated for years mirrored on Euphoria’s first promotional billboard. The experience was deeply emotional, especially when people said the show resembled her body of work.
In 2022, Collins received a Grammy nomination for Best Music Video (“good 4 u”). She won the 2024 Kodak Film Award for Music Film Director for Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire.”
