The Scary Movie franchise will be returning to the big screen for the first time in a decade when the sixth film in the franchise will hit theaters on Friday, June 5. 🍿

Given the amount of time between films, Scary Movie (the technical title for the new film — there is no “6” attached to it) will have a plethora of topics to take aim at.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Wayans brothers detailed some of the taboo topics that the film will be mocking. 👍

Based on their list, it appears that both sides of the political aisle will find something in the film to be upset about if they don’t have a sense of humor.

🗣️ - “COVID, #MeToo, ChatGPT, the Epstein files, OnlyFans, live streamers, ICE raids, the Jan. 6 insurrection, and the Kendrick-Drake rap battle all take blows in Scary Movie.” 😂

“But understand. We’re not punks. We’re not afraid — we Wayans are not afraid to go there. But is it worth the goodness of your project to just be offensive?” This is bare-knuckle boxing alright, but “with kids’ gloves on.” 🥊

“For us, it’s not about the blood. We’re not trying to get blood, we’re just trying to hit you in the face and get you one of those Fred Flintstone notches,” Marlon said. [via Entertainment Weekly]

As for specific films Scary Movie will be mocking, the trailers have revealed barbs at: Scream, Wednesday, Smile, Halloween (2018), Ma, Everything Everywhere All At Once, Get Out, M3GAN, Sinners, Weapons, Terrifier, Heart Eyes, The Substance, and Longlegs, with additional cameos from Leatherface (from Texas Chain Saw Massacre), Jason (from Friday the 13th), and Annabelle (The Conjuring). 🎬

In addition to Marlon and Shawn Wayans, starring in their first Scary Movie film since the second entry in 2001, Scary Movie 6 will feature returning cast members such as Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Jon Abrahams, and Anthony Anderson.
