Jahvid Best’s career arc is crazy...

...from NFL 1st rounder to the Olympics to working in law enforcement.

In college, Best was Cal’s star RB known for pure speed, once even rushing for 311 yards in a game - a school record that still stands.

In 2010, he was drafted in the 1st round by the Detroit Lions. But his promising NFL career was cut short by concussions.

He then turned to track.

In 2016, he represented Saint Lucia in the Rio Olympics. He did the 100-meter dash, and raced against Usain Bolt in a quarterfinal heat (losing to Bolt by 0.32 sec).

Best became the first former NFL player to compete in the Summer Olympics.

He also dabbled in coaching.

In 2014, Best joined the Cal coaching staff. More recently, he coached high school football in the Bay Area - where he grew up.

And that was the last the public might have heard of Jahvid Best...

That is... until Feb 7, when the San Francisco Police Department released a video on IG.

Best, in full police uniform, introduced himself as a police officer on the SFPD for about 2 years now.

And we now know that one of the fastest players in the NFL, while he didn’t play long in the league, went on to be an Olympian...

... and now a police officer protecting the streets of San Francisco. 🙌
