The White Sox are tipping their cap to the Pope.
And because of overwhelming fan demand, everyone in attendance will now receive the team’s “Pope Hat” giveaway on Aug. 11.
It was originally only supposed to be for select fans who purchased a special theme ticket. Now, those fans will receive both the Pope Hat and an additional item as well, the team said Friday.
White Sox EVP/Chief Revenue & Marking Officer Brooks Boyer told SBJ recently that the inspiration for the giveaway was that fans were already wearing their own Pope Hats to games as a tribute to devoted White Sox fan Pope Leo XIV.
