New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill is now calling out FIFA, saying the organization is paying $0 toward transportation and leaving NJ Transit with a $48M bill to move fans.
FIFA fired back, saying host cities agreed years ago that fans would pay for transit and that no major event has ever required organizers to cover those costs. 💰
Here’s the thing… MetLife hosts massive events all the time. NFL games, concerts, even the Super Bowl. Nobody’s charging $100+ for a $13 train ride.
Other cities aren’t doing this either. Philly isn’t raising prices. Boston is charging around $80. 🤔
So now fans are stuck in the middle of a fight between the state and FIFA… and somehow they’re the ones footing the bill.
