Formula 1 has cancelled the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix scheduled for April.

In a statement, Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali said the decision was made “considering the current situation in the Middle East,” adding that while it was a difficult call, it was “unfortunately the right one at this stage.”

The races had been set for April 12 in Bahrain and April 19 in Jeddah, and Formula 1 confirmed that no replacement races will be held in April.
