Three Canadians are now self-isolating at home in Ontario and Quebec after possible hantavirus exposure from the same deadly outbreak currently plaguing a cruise ship still at sea with 150 people on board.
Two were passengers who left the ship nearly two weeks ago, before the outbreak had been reported, while a third Canadian who wasn't even on the cruise may have been exposed after sharing a flight with them.
Officials say all three are asymptomatic right now, but public health teams are monitoring the situation daily and the isolation period could last around 30 days.
