No matter how much you read about Japan beforehand… nothing prepares you for what it’s actually like when you get there 🇯🇵 What surprises YOU the most?
🤯 Tokyo’s metro area has over 4x the population of New York City
🚉 People line up single file for trains
🧼 No garbage cans & no litter!
🚕 Taxi doors open & close automatically
🏪 There are tons of 7-Elevens and they carry freshly made & healthy food
🚗 Cars drive on the left side of the street and no one honks
🍳 Raw eggs are poured over everything
🔥 Toilets are heated & have sinks built into the top to save space
🩴 Sandals are outside of every bathroom to step into before you enter
🥢 It’s considered inappropriate to walk & eat. Standing tables are provided at most eating establishments.
I really enjoyed being immersed in such a different culture and it opened my eyes to different ways if life 👀 I think sometimes we get so caught up in our own minds we forget how small we are in the grand scheme of things 🌎
I hope upon returning home I can remember there is a large world out there and try not to take myself so seriously. This experience is one I feel has changed me forever 🙏
