Tyson Chandler was one of the most dominant high school big men of his era.
At Dominguez High School in Compton, Chandler became a national name because of his size, shot blocking, and ability to control the paint at a young age. He was a McDonald’s All-American, a Parade All-American, and one of the most hyped frontcourt prospects in the country.
Chandler went straight from high school to the NBA, where he was selected 2nd overall in the 2001 NBA Draft by the Clippers before being traded to the Bulls. He went on to play 19 seasons in the league, made an All-Star team, won Defensive Player of the Year, and helped the Dallas Mavericks win the 2011 NBA Championship.
