Carson Towt, the Indianapolis Colts’ new tight end, has never played football. Indianapolis signed a 24-year-old, 6’8”, 250-pound forward with plans to turn him into an NFL tight end. Because Towt never used any football eligibility in college, he was able to bypass the NFL Draft and sign directly as a free agent. On the basketball court, Towt was a rebounding machine. He led the nation in total rebounds and rebounds per game during the 2024-25 season. Translation: Elite instincts tracking the ball in the air. So the Colts are basically saying: “If you can grab rebounds in traffic, you can catch passes over the middle.” This isn’t new; we’ve seen this movie before: Antonio Gates It’s clear the Colts see potential in Towt.
