Most people assume Kyler Murray will land with another NFL team quickly after being released by the Cardinals. But there’s a wild alternative. Baseball. The Athletics still hold Murray’s MLB rights after taking him 9th overall in the 2018 draft. And their GM David Forst basically said the door is wide open if Kyler ever wants to play baseball. So technically, the A’s are waiting if he decides he’s tired of getting chased by 300-pound pass rushers. And let’s not pretend he can’t play. At the University of Oklahoma, Murray hit .296 with 10 HR in his final baseball season before going all-in on football and winning the Heisman Trophy. Not exactly a bad fallback career. But let’s be real, the second the NFL free agency opens, QB-needy teams like the Falcons, Vikings, or Jets will start going after him. But the fact that an MLB front office is publicly saying, “yeah, we’d take him back”? That’s where things get interesting.
