Former Team USA figure skater Adam Rippon, who won bronze at the 2018 Winter Olympics, previously joked that athletes often grab condoms in bulk simply because they’re free Olympic-branded souvenirs. 🛍️ Rippon once admitted he stuffed thousands into his backpack from a medical tent just to give them away to friends back home, saying the reality was way less glamorous than people imagine, just baskets of generic condoms sitting out for athletes to take. That story has been echoed by other competitors, including alpine skier Mialitiana Clerc, who said at past Games she saw boxes of condoms sitting at building entrances in the Olympic Village, only for them to be completely gone by the next day. 🤦‍♂️ According to athletes, some are obviously being used for their intended purpose, but a huge chunk are being taken as novelty keepsakes or gifts for friends outside the Games.
