Jazz Chisholm Jr. set the bar high ahead of the 2026 MLB season.
The athletic infielder, who had a career-best 40 stolen bases in 2024, wants to improve on that feat, even trying to include more power in his game and be the second player in MLB history to record a 50-50 season.
“I just can’t help but get that gut feeling, it’s going to be an amazing year,” said Chisholm Jr. back in February.
“Especially with [Aaron] Judge pushing me ever since I’ve gotten here, I feel like I’ve matured a lot in the game, just from watching him and his at-bats every day, watching the way he goes about it.”
Of course, it was two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani who was the first member of the 50-50 club, doing so in 2024.
While Chisholm Jr. already has 7 stolen bases in 2026, he has yet to find the power stroke in his bat, registering 0 home runs so far this year. His career high for home runs in a season is 31 in 2025.
And, to be fair to Chisholm Jr., whose defense has also been criticized lately, he was the sparkplug for the Yankees against the Angels on Wednesday night. His stolen base at the bottom of the 9th inning started New York’s 2-run rally to record the come-from-behind victory 💨
