New Yorkers are living longer than most Americans.
A new report found the average life expectancy in New York City is 82.3 years, about five years higher than the average for major U.S. cities (77.3 years).
That puts NYC ahead of cities like Los Angeles (79.6), Chicago (77.9), Washington D.C. (77.4) and Philadelphia (75).
The data also shows a gender gap, with women in NYC living an average of 85.2 years compared to 79.2 years for men.
The findings come from the NYU City Health Dashboard, which analyzes public health data from more than 1,200 U.S. cities.
