Shinnecock Hills returns to the US Open in 2026.
Which got us thinking: does Long Island have the strongest concentration of golf courses anywhere on earth?
Five courses. One stretch of coastline. Shinnecock, National Golf Links, Friar’s Head, Maidstone and Bethpage Black. That’s a difficult hand to beat.
Then again, East Lothian, the Melbourne Sandbelt, Surrey, the Monterey Peninsula, and the Belek Coast might have something to say about it.
A quick caveat: some of the courses featured are private, so the prices shown assume access via a member-guest invitation where applicable.
If you could play one of these trips tomorrow, where are you booking? And which destination takes the crown?
