I look around and realize… my whole world is shaped by incredible women.
I see it every day with Jill, the way she leads, the way she builds, the way she takes an idea and turns it into something real. She balances business, motherhood, vision, and still shows up fully for the people around her. Honestly, it’s impressive. Slightly intimidating. Mostly impressive. And then there’s my mom… and Jill’s mom. The women who raised us, prayed for us, and probably still worry about us. My mom raised my brother and me with a lot of love, but also a very clear understanding of right and wrong. She held our family together and cared deeply about our education, our faith, how we treated people, and what kind of men we were becoming.
And like most good moms… when she was proud of us, it meant everything. When she was mad… we knew we were in serious trouble. Looking back now as a parent myself, I realize just how much of the foundation of who I am came from her. I’m far from perfect, but the values of family, loyalty, and showing up for the people you love were built early and they came from her. Everything we’re building today started with women like them. And now Annie’s watching it all unfold. Being a girl dad changes you. It makes you realize that being the right kind of man really matters, because she’s learning what to look for by watching me.
Today I’m grateful for the women who raised me, the woman I get to stand beside, and the young women who’s watching it all. Happy International Women’s Day.
