The NBA is wild. Luka Dončić was 25 when the Mavs traded him. He's a career 29/8/8 player, a 5-time All-Star (at the time), and just led a team to the NBA Finals. Meanwhile, Trae Young was 27 when the Hawks traded him. He's averaged a career 25 PPG, and he's a 4-time All-Star. Together, they were traded for a grand total of 1 first round draft pick - which was in the Luka trade. ONE. Sure, the Mavs got AD, and the Hawks got CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert... But take a look at what the Grizzlies did with Jaren Jackson Jr and Desmond Bane. Jackson was just traded to the Jazz for a package that included players and 3 first round draft picks. Last year, Bane was traded to the Magic for a package that included players and 4 first round draft picks. A combined 7 first rounders headed to Memphis. For reference, JJJ is a 2-time All-Star, while Bane has never made an All-Star Game. Make it make sense. 🤷‍♂️
