Ceri Menai-Davis ran the 2026 TCS London Marathon on April 27 carrying his late son Hugh’s shoes around his neck for the full 26.2 miles.
Hugh died aged 6 from a rare cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma in September 2021. The shoes were the ones Hugh wore when he was admitted to hospital but, as Ceri put it, “sadly never came out.”
Ceri had also run the Paris Marathon on April 12 wearing the same shoes, totaling over 56 miles across both races. He and his wife co-founded the charity “It’s Never You” and are aiming to raise £100,000 in Hugh’s memory.
